So [personal profile] norabombay is responsible for my next credit card statement due to overuse of Amazon and iTunes because in a fit of what I thought was sympathy post-Sherlock, she introduced me to Grosse Pointe Blank since I hadn't seen it (don't judge), and I'm happier, but also, poorer trying to get the soundtrack by piecemeal since it's not downloadable as a whole and where is Blister 2000 anyway?

That I'm listening to Guns N'Roses Live and Let Die with no sense of irony hurts me dreadfully. Then again, I get to hum happily to myself whenever there is shooting, and there is a truly satisfactory amount of shooting. Happy.

ETA: This movie isn't on bluray? What kind of sick world do we live in?

PS: Okay, that's it, this is a night of Steve Wariner music and pre-ordering The Fray's new album. Between Sherlock and the vast betrayal of bluray technology, I really have no choice. And I'm downloading the two singles now. That is where I am. Even though I am not sure The Fighter really expresses my pain sufficiently. Or Heartbeat.

You should have just asked; I have both volumes of the soundtrack from back in the day. Where do you want it sent?

Hee hee. The tech gods have also realized that the zipfiles are too big to fit in e-mail, so I will shortly send you DL links.

They are really good compilations; I used to listen to them constantly in the car.

I also made that offer :)

From 1997 to 2005 the CD's basically lived in my car. I used Lorca's Novena to check the sound quality of the speakers when I got my Mazda.

Post 2005, they lived on my mp3 player.

Ha ha ha, for quite some time whenever my iPod was set to shuffle, Lorca's Novena came up within the first half-dozen songs. Ignacio! Lay dying in the sand! A single red rose clutched in his dying hand, etc. etc.

But then you miss the hideous death (and, in my case, the joys of explaining to your minor children what "faggot" means and why we should not say it on the playground....)
icarus: Snape by mysterious artist (Default)

One of my all-time favorite movies.

Favorite moments of Grosse Pointe Blank (one of many): when the CIA agents just sit back and enjoy the mini-mart being blown away. Oh! And the way he keeps telling people he's a hit man, and everyone thinks he's being sarcastic -- oh, and the admission that he finds killing, well, er, um, fun. And "Don't tease me, you know what I do for a living." And his secretary nonchalantly hammering on the hard drive -- oh God, Joan Cusack was so great in this -- and the damned union. I've been quoting "Good for you, growth industry" (totally ripped that off in my figure skating SGA epic) --

-- have I mentioned this is one of my all-time favorite movies?

(Have I also mentioned that I went to high school, like, fifteen minutes away from there?)

Proof!

HOW is that soundtrack not available anymore?! I've owned it since the movie came out! One of the greatest movies (and soundtracks) of all time! THIS IS FUCKERY OF THE HIGHEST ORDER.

Let me know if there's anything you can't find. I'm more than happy to be of assistance. This sort of gross negligence on the part of the entertainment industry should not be allowed to stand!

If I knew how, I'd share the very awesome soundtrack with you! (Better than the movie, imho.)

One of the best movies ever. I've got no clue how it would work, but I've always kind of wanted a Due South AU of this - one where Fraser just couldn't handle all his internal anger at the world and ran away to become Canadian Special Forces and then go independent. I can totally see Fraser as a charming contract killer, who eventually regains his desire for civilian life.

...and seriously, how do I not have the soundtrack?

I love, love, love this movie. In very boring lunch meetings, I often wonder about killing the president of Paraguay with a fork.

How is Grosse Pointe Blank not on BlueRay?? (...have you read the XMen AU?)
