I dunno. I think the fact that McCain, the conservative, picked a woman, while Obama, liberal, picked a white male with a lower vote count than Hillary does ask some interesting questions.
And right now I'm pretty glad she's not involved in this. The mudslinging is, I think, going to escalate.
Indictment for what? The thing with her brother in law? *confused*
I... have a real problem with the argument of "go for the woman, any woman". But that's my thing, and I think yeah, maybe some will.
I think once they hear her speak, though, a lot will change her mind. She's... a little scary.
And, um, crud, the Alaskan senator who was recently indicted for receiving 'gifts'? She's involved, too. No formal charges yet, but she's being investigated.
She's adamantly pro-life and pro-drilling absolutely everywhere - and her husband works for an oil company. I thinks she's entirely credible and will give McCain a definite boost - especially considering the misogynist rumors about him - but I also think it makes the idea of four years of a GOP administration even more terrifying.
She's not conservative enough, oddly. Which has me blinking because -- really? That's the complaint? Then again, they leveled that at McCain, too. And then there's the low-level misogyny that she's a woman at all; it's not blatant, but the guy my coworker listens to is a jackass all around (regardless of political affiliation) and it was there.
From what I can tell, she's a maverick herself with the entire ethics investigation she launched. friendshipper has some better info, being from that state.

Don't forget a creationist (wanting it taught alongside evolution) who seems to really want polar bears off the Endangered Species list. Hopefully it's such a clear play to the wingnuts that it'll scare off moderates.
Wow, aside from those pesky X-chromosomes, she's every conservative's wet dream.
Creationist anti-abortion anti-environmental lifelong NRA member with financial ties to the oil industry. She's Cheney and Anne Coulter's bastard love-child.
*shrugs* Every politiican is under indictment for something somewhere.
I don't particularly like that argument either, but it does throw up an interesting contrast between Obama's choice of a running mate and McCain's. He does try to keep that crazy independent maverick thing going.
She is? I'd be curious to see a link. The good ol' boys in the 'Corrupt Bastards Club' (their quaint little name for themselves) don't like her much--she wouldn't play ball. She's a socially conservative Republican, and for that reason I'd never vote for her, but she's a pretty clean one.
I don't know of anything recent, but when Stevens was indicted, it was in all the articles (ap, reuters, which I suppose means less than it once did) that the FBI was investigating her as well.
I think you just misread or misremembered. Many of the articles mention the local investigation into the commissioner's dismissal while also talking about Stevens and the federal investigation. Stevens, Young, and what seems like half our state legislature are all under federal investigation and/or indictment, but she's not one of them.
