Huh. CNN just stated that McCain picked Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate in breaking news.

Well. That was unexpected.

Ted Stevens. :)

She's adamantly pro-life and pro-drilling absolutely everywhere - and her husband works for an oil company. I thinks she's entirely credible and will give McCain a definite boost - especially considering the misogynist rumors about him - but I also think it makes the idea of four years of a GOP administration even more terrifying.

Yes, him! Plus the thing with her ex-brother-in-law.

And yes, to all of it. So far, conservative talk radio is not thrilled with this choice. At all. But they're still so-so on McCain himself. Ug.

Can it be November already?

That really surprises me -- I'd have expected otherwise. What are they not thrilled about?

She's not conservative enough, oddly. Which has me blinking because -- really? That's the complaint? Then again, they leveled that at McCain, too. And then there's the low-level misogyny that she's a woman at all; it's not blatant, but the guy my coworker listens to is a jackass all around (regardless of political affiliation) and it was there.

From what I can tell, she's a maverick herself with the entire ethics investigation she launched. [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper has some better info, being from that state.

Don't forget a creationist (wanting it taught alongside evolution) who seems to really want polar bears off the Endangered Species list. Hopefully it's such a clear play to the wingnuts that it'll scare off moderates.

Wow, aside from those pesky X-chromosomes, she's every conservative's wet dream.

Creationist anti-abortion anti-environmental lifelong NRA member with financial ties to the oil industry. She's Cheney and Anne Coulter's bastard love-child.
