Note: In Random Lounge is a two comment write up; whether or not the writer meant to, to me it reads as very biased and a hard slant toward mitigating some of the actions taken by mods and others involved. This anonymous comment pointed out that the writeup also left out every trans person involved.

THX. I'm fascinated by the dynamics that let the mod say she'd let someone in if she "recognized them as decent from anon" -- so I guess "anon" isn't a truly anonymous comm? or something?

I don't think they have fail_fandomanon or some of the other anon communities anon-only etiquette. I've been thinking about how that develops where posting under your actualfax name is unacceptable and rude.

...I did a locked meta a couple of weeks ago on anon and was thinking how in anonymous culture, it's an interesting opportunity to strip out baggage; without a name, you may not have an identity, but you also don't have any kind of pre-existing authority in a conversation based on your identity and history. All you have is your current words. I get the problem with lack of accountability, but there's also lack of (or less of) self-consciousness before an audience, too. Along with the ability to test an idea, a conversation, or make stupid mistakes without getting an LJ note (for the purpose of this example, I mean actual conversation, not trolling or baiting).
