more merlin recs

This is how I know I am in the depths of despair to quote Anne Shirley in a very lame way--even dark chocolate covered espresso beans are doing nothing for me.

Okay, that's a lie. The point here is, I feel icky and wrong and my nose hurts. So recs. And not even like, depressing ones.

Poetical Days by [livejournal.com profile] lesserstorm - all of Camelot is infected with bad poetry. No. I mean they are infected with bad poetry. I give this a rating of three coughing fits and two gasps for air.

Springs the Wood Anew by [livejournal.com profile] sevenfists - Merlin/Arthur. There is kind of almost-angst? But this is Arthur. And there is a meadow. And I swear I can hear the music rise during the meadow scene. You should read this now.

How Many Miles to Babylon by [livejournal.com profile] lyra_wing - Merlin/Arthur. Water nymphs made them do it. Quite a bit, actually. Perhaps excessively, even, if you aren't into that sort of thing. I am very much into that sort of thing, so there is no excessive, only guh.

Wild Magic by [livejournal.com profile] shinetheway - Merlin/Arthur. Merlin's sorcerous fantasy life. To say that this is hot is to understate the case in a way dramatic enough to qualify for a bad Hamlet production. God do I want the sequel.

The Common Touch by [livejournal.com profile] lamardeuse - Merlin/Arthur. Merlin convinces Arthur to go to a fair as a normal person. Oddly, this does not end in disaster. Though you are kind of bracing yourself for it through the story. Wonderfully fun story.
Surfacing from my congestion-related misery to bring two recs.

Subject (To) by [livejournal.com profile] frostfire_17 - *takes a deep breath* Merlin/Uther, no, breathe okay and just try it. It's uncomfortable and haunting and sad and beautifully written and kind of made me hurt for Merlin and hurt for Uther, too.

Drawing Back the Curtain by [livejournal.com profile] shinetheway - Morgana/Arthur/Merlin, Arthur/Merlin, Morgana/Gwen, not sad and lovely, lovely, lovely. And you know, guh.

Right then. I am looking forward to the day I can both breathe through my nose and stay awake for more than two hours at a time. However, I just saw [livejournal.com profile] bookshop is in the middle of reading [livejournal.com profile] syllic"s story Three Tasks, which, like [livejournal.com profile] raphaela667's I'll Be the Platform Shoes is my comfortfic of comfortfic, so going to re-read both now and drown the horror that is my nose in lilac robes and how Merlin never wanted to be in a romantic comedy, even though he was.

Go with God and decongestants, y'all.

(I really need to create a rec page for this. Maybe this week. Unless I get reinspired on the "Arthur Takes a Road Trip to Rome and Discovers Eyeliner" in which I could achieve both historical inaccuracy and satisfy a kink regarding Roman baths.)
[livejournal.com profile] deadlychameleon - I got the tea! And the double chai is utterly fantastic and surprisingly effective at clearing the sinuses as needed. These are fantastic. Thank you very much! I'm testing the packets in random order by color.

Um, to make this more relevant to fandom:

Those Deep Places by [livejournal.com profile] svilleficrecs - Merlin/Arthur. Arthur discovers Merlin's secret in a very sexy way. You'll see why this made my sick-reading list when you get about three-quarters in. Guh.

Water Lillies by [livejournal.com profile] bluebell - Merlin/Arthur, with unexpected dips in water and Totally Necessary for Survival Cuddling.

It occurs to me this may be the first fandom I have ever been in where I could create a thematic rec list devoted to cuddling.

VVC registration tonight, if anyone missed it. V. exciting.

to explain

Ah, that lovely hit of adrenaline during VVC registration is always welcome while I frantically forget my real name, address, and sometimes, how to read.

Completed at 11:01 PM. I can't be the only one that counts by the second, can I?

ETA: Cap was reached in four freaking minutes. This can only be beat by next year teh entire process is directly done by telepathy.
