Podfic of Four PM, by [personal profile] paraka, AIRPS, Adam/Kris, mp3 and m4b, story here.

She had an earthquake today. *hands* And there is still podfic.

I'm exactly one section from done on one help_haiti fic and it's shorter than War and Peace. That is totally cause for celebration. One. Section. That's like, a finish and beta away from postable.

Oh, I forgot! Podfic!

(It's like an embarrassment of riches going on with podficcing; I am listening to them at work (to avoid that messy boots-too-expensive-sink-too-small-to-drown-in issue).)

One AM read by [livejournal.com profile] paraka, AIRPS, Adam/Kris, the one that's about how Kris is totally not abused. Because that's something that needed to be written.

Efficient read by [livejournal.com profile] fleurrochard, Merlin, Merlin/Arthur. She did this one a while back and I totally missed it.

Happy.
*glee* Podfic!

[livejournal.com profile] twilight_angel recorded two fic here: The Difference, SGA, Ronon/Weir, and Eighteenish, SGA, John/Rodney and one here: That's For Remembrance, Jason Bourne/John Sheppard, SGA/SG1/Bourne Identity, all in mp3.

[livejournal.com profile] cybel has the podbook versions here: The Difference, Eighteenish, and That's For Remembrance.

I literally cannot figure out which one to listen to first. Thank you very much [livejournal.com profile] twilight_angel for the recordings (GLEE!) and [livejournal.com profile] cybel for the podbooks.
So I needed to cheer myself up, and weirdly, this actually worked.

cages seriously?

You will probably want context for this--I would too! But this is my life, and it's not like the three [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic aren't officially each a novella unless I can manage to cut them down, dear God.

I apologize to my recipients, but if it's any consolation, it's like, an extra 10K a month I'm late at this point, and it could end up with built-in sequels. You gave me really good prompts, and let me say, I didn't expect to love them this much.

seperis: Why do you want cages?
seperis: Just, give me a reason.
svmadelyn: *sits up*
svmadelyn: see, right there, you're wrong.
svmadelyn: you're wrong on the internets.
svmadelyn: presuming that there's a *reason.*
svmadelyn: it should be self-explanatory.
svmadelyn: it should stand on its own.
svmadelyn: it shouldn't need explanation.
svmadelyn: it should be like that thing in Russia with the unexplainable thing.
svmadelyn: or those lights in the Midwest.
svmadelyn: it just *is*.
seperis: It needs a reason.
seperis: Adam locking Kris in a cage needs a reason, okay?
svmadelyn: it does not.

For the rest, go here, and vote whether or not I should be writing a--IDEK what to call this? I really do not want to be known as the person who writes a sociopathic AU in every fandom I glance at casually, but I'm beginning to be unsettled by the fact I am in fact the person that does this.

...how would I even structure this? AIRPS as a deathmatch? Literally?

For those who read this, you deserve something nice, ficness below cut, Adam/Kris, Adam/Kris/OC. Rated NC-17. This is part of something that may or may not end up on the cutting floor of the fic that will not end. Loosely affiliated with earlier ficlet in which Kris discusses his reflexes with Adam on a car at the beach.

Do not let this like, influence you to vote NO CAGES OMG or anything.
I honestly think I am never going to ever finish anything when I have like, tons of fic that are missing like, one scene (including my help_haiti fic) and I just. Can't. Make. Them. Work.

Three more days in this testing cycle, if I don't count today, which I most certainly do not. Also, I really need to get off my Shiny Toy Guns kick at some point. Something about the screaming in Don't Cry Out manages to be both cathartic and yet highly unsettling.

Part A

(This Is) Not a Statement, AIRPS, Adam/Kris, is up at AO3. You know, I didn't realize this, but the power of suggestion is a lot stronger than I thought it was. Just like, someone asking it required me to do it this morning. After coffee, of course.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand - A Helpful Primer by [livejournal.com profile] hradzka NSFW NSFW ALERT DO NOT OPEN AT WORK PENIS NAKED THINGS NSFW NSFW but open when you get home and then like, watch this show. I think [livejournal.com profile] hradzka may have created a protofandom on the strength of his primer and hilarious twitter reviews. This--and I am not exaggerating--may be the next Big Fandom. And it's all thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hradzka.

If you are really historically anal--that being anal about history--yeah, no. If you like oiled men, yes. If you are really worried about accuracy, no. If you liked 300 purely on the basis of the violence-porn (and oiled men. And the running. God, the running. Do you remember the running? I remember the running), welcome! If you are like, all character driven intricately plotted things or whatever, no. If you love Lucy Lawless, I have no idea why you are here and not downloading.

(This is all gathered from [livejournal.com profile] hradzka, who if you remember, and you'd better, the words "Oh John Ringo no!". Yes. That. I have high hopes of reviews of more John Ringo novels in the future.)

Who wants to do a group watch with me? Apparently, there are a lot of "gladiator training sessions". With oiling! I miss the running thing in 300, you know?

I need to quote this, because it's very persuasive:
But it has a stoic, intense, emotionally unavailable hero who has a protective, emotionally supportive, and physically contrasting male best friend; it has a hero who has nothing to do with the women, because they are physically separated and because both the powerful female leads hate his guts, so the women literally *cannot* get in the way of the slash; it features two socially powerful women who make no bones about seeking out their own sexual satisfaction, often graphically; it has male-on-male sex, portrayed as part of a devoted relationship; it has a fairly diverse cast of actors who originate from Ghana, Australia, Lebanon, and more; it features slavery, which becomes a fanfic AU for *every* fandom, as an integral component, with powerful women using men as sex slaves; and it has a ton (quite literally, at least 2000 lbs worth) of well-muscled men who walk around for whole episodes wearing nothing but loincloths and baby oil. Sometimes they forget the loincloths.

I couldn't even pick my favorite sentence out of that paragraph.

So I was practicing writing on command last night in prep for [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti fic, but no one would command me because my friends all suck--and you know who you are--so instead, I tried homage to loosen up the 'write on command' muscles by pretending someone told me to homage someone. I'm not actually good at this.

In tribute to [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock's Bang (it was funny that I was less than three paragraphs in and Madelyn: OMG IS THIS LIKE BANG? Me: *GLEE* Madelyn: No one would recognize it but me. Me: DEFLATES.) But she's right. It's not as good. But it was fun and looking at my thread, I seriously need my A game in the next few weeks. For earlier years, here. I swear I did it every year, but tags do not lie. I really need to go through my calendar and confirm this.

So statistically speaking, I killed a lot fewer characters this year. No one was raped, mutilated, or tortured, though some may have been drugged. There were new fandoms, old fandoms, things I'd never done before, and things I've wanted to do for a while.

There was Star Trek, my first fandom and the root of a lifetime of adoration of sci-fi, and there was RPS, which, yeah, I didn't see that coming like, at all. And there were people that make life so much more than it would have been without them.
