Very shallow barely spoiler under the cut:

Bucky with his emoliner and flowing hair and sliding on the ground using his metal arm to slow himself down and his memory-angst--I didn't realize they allowed porn in movie theatres. [personal profile] lillian13 and I were almost alone in the theatre, which is awesome, because holy shit was that good for me.

...I said shallow, right? Thanks.

I want all the Buckys. All of them.

Steve walking around in a tank top is a crime, a wonderful crime, and his punishment should be to do nothing else, ever.

Nick Fury was, as usual, so badass he made an arm in a sling look like a badass fashion statement, Natasha is my favorite character ever--I mean this, I ripped Iron Man II specifically to easily rewatch the entire hall scene over and over and over--and now I want a vid with nothing but her leaving a trail of bodies and being ungodly hot doing it--and OMG SAM AND HIS WINGS. It should have been ridic, and it was--right up until he was using it, then wingfic suddenly makes sense.

...I didn't see that coming, no. Good God, Sam, do the flying thing more. That's seriously hot.

Shallow. Thank you and goodnight.

I've seen it nine times in the theatre. At some point, I hit the feeling no shame point.

It hit all my buttons and invented new ones.

There is a reason my default icon is from that scene. Best thing in IM2.

This si the film that breaks that rule. I mean, honestly. So much hot in one film. So. Much.

I knew I was going to like it, but I had not expected in any way the fact that about 70% of the movie I'm having probably inappropriate responses to the events on the screen. And then you throw in the emotionalism and I walked out of there the first time going, "La la la, hey you want to get Thai food" to my friend and inside I was screaming and screaming and screaming.

It is truly a feast for the eyes.

Okay, advice please--how do you manage to *behave* in public when inside you're reacting like this?
Some movies, I know better. I don't trust myself to behave in a movie theater, I really don't.

It definitely helps to go to matinees, where there are fewer people, or very late night showings. ;-) And to wait till the crowds die down. But when I cannot wait, it takes every muscle in my body not to flail and stamp my feet. I suppose it's like pilates.

Et tu, Brute? ;o)

I saw it once and am now looking at nearly 50 k of words on a co-written story that grows steadily day by day.

It's a common phenomenon, I hear.

I think your reactions are perfectly appropriate.

Also, I think the translation of Bucky to the big screen was utterly stunning. Not only for the glory that was that metal arm (I might have spent an embarrassingly long time watching that trailer clip of him using his hand as an e-brake on the highway), but also for the scenes with Pierce, which did such a stupendous job of showing how thoroughly fucked over Bucky was, how much had been taken from him and done to him, in a more efficient and far more brutal manner than the books.

Also, Natasha was kickass and Sam, I love Sam. I always loved Sam -- the self-designated Responsible Adult of the Avengers universe -- but this version was spectacular.

I've been thinking about this a lot late -- that I think the Bucky/Winter Soldier of the movie is far more broken and dehumanized than the one in the comics. Just the fact that they seem to have dispensed with the training of Natasha alone would mean he's spent most of his time being frozen, not even allowed some contact with humans beyond his handlers, and that fuckin' BREAKS MY HEART into thousands of tiny little slivers.

I hadn't even thought of that, but you're absolutely right -- Sam is the Designated Responsible Adult! Hah. I knew there was another reason I loved him. (When I was younger, my friends all called me Mom because I was the go-to responsible person and the only one who seemed to have any common sense or able to deal with crises.)

MCU Winter Soldier is far more dehumanized than his 616 counterpart, no doubt. WS wasn't exactly Lukin's right hand man in the books, but Lukin continued the Red Room's policy of treating him as a human being when he was out of stasis -- an employee, but an employee trusted to do difficult work. Winter Soldier had no name, but he had a personality and his masters were fine with that so long as he didn't question orders or take Natasha to bed. He was put away between missions because he was precious, not because he was considered to be akin to a blender or any other tool you don't use every day.

Brubaker *loved* using Sam as Designated Responsible Adult, as did many other writers, but Bru's books are full of Sam chasing after Steve and Sharon and especially Bucky to keep them from doing something extra-stupid or knowing that they needed to talk. (I have posted more than my share of Sam-Bucky picspams on Tumblr wherein Sam is doing a perpetual facepalm while also keeping Bucky alive.)

Here's hoping they don't follow the books too closely from here on out, either, because while I appreciated Bucky healing on his own power, being capable of that, I don't want him doing it *away* from S the way he does in the books!

(I'm interested in seeing your Tumblr picspams -- do you have the same handle there?)

I do not have the same handle there, so this is the first one I could find because I'm kinda crap at tagging anything: http://laporcupina.tumblr.com/post/82319033174/scratchthemaven-james-bucky-barnes-winter

I wouldn't mind if they followed the course of the books, mostly because I think the story would still heavily involve S because you don't make that movie without your lead being in your movie. Also, I could deal with two hours of Anthony Mackie sputtering and going ".... really?" chasing after one or both of them.

It was a movie that was VERY GENEROUS with the eye candy, yes. Multiple flavors of gorgeous, lots of emotional intensity flying in all directions, convenient for shipping the pair/trio/pile o' superheroes of your choice... :D

I was delighted at how much of a Natasha film it was. She got to have character development and fascinating relationships and also be a ridiculous badass! Also I have wanted the Natasha-Steve team-up desperately since I first saw the Avengers, and I GOT WHAT I WANTED. Plus Sam! Who is my new favorite, OMG. (THEY ARE ALL MY FAVORITES. WHO CARES IF THAT IS NOT WHAT FAVORITE MEANS.) So charming and compassionate and handsome and emotionally available! And then WINGS and wow. SAM. *_*

And Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeve. No words, just STEEEEEEVE. (And Steve's Bucky Feels, which are Epic.)
