the teapot of your work dreams

Oh, for people who need teapots, especially for work:

Adagio Teas teapot - it holds plenty of tea, it is ridic easy to wash, and it's infinitely storeable. Only warning--when full, pour very carefully at first, I have no idea why, but it will leak a tiny bit. I've been using it at work for about a month and it's kind of perfect, but it does get hot, especially the lid, so I use a pencil to maneuver it off to remove the tea when it's done seeping.

Your timing is brilliant; I broke my teapot (MY TEAPOT! *SOB*) and have been looking for a good replacement. Apparently teapots are just too boring and my local stores all want me to buy a Mr Coffee tea brewer thing.

It really works for keeping it hot and condensing the heat, but it does seem to seep a little faster than my timer would have indicated. If you like black teas, I suggest doing a sip test about a minute before you usually would to check. I've had to water my tea a couple of times because it ended up weapons grade black.

On the other hand, if you like green or red teas, it really assures you get the full flavor.

I appreciate the warning; I like my black teas strong, but not THAT strong.

I use Adagio's loose teas, and the two that always get me are Irish Breakfast and black currant on strength. I love them both, but I have to be super careful. I did find that mixing the cherry and chocolate chip does something magical though. It doesn't--I mean it--taste anything like chocolate, but it brings out the flavor of the cherry.

It was one of those weird accidents where I bought a sampler set and was trying to get rid of the chocolate chip because eww but also CANNOT WASTE TEA and the cherry because even weak it had a strong bitter aftertaste that killed the cherry flavor, but together--I have no idea why it worked, but it took the edge hard edge off the cherry completely. If you ever want to try it, it's one to one, or two cherry to one chocolate chip. I've been more ambitious in mixing things that didn't work for me since then, since especially the Irish Breakfast is amazing, but I have to watch the time on that one obsessively or it's like the double espresso of tea plus one strong and I feel like enamel is coming off my teeth.

Never found a use for the plain chocolate one yet.

It's not bad or good, it's just weird. There's just a strong "this shouldn't be tea" thing. I think that if I were the kind that liked milk or cream in tea, it would work a lot better for me, but I only do that with chai because a few of the Indian contractors showed me how to do it correctly and with a particular kind of tea, and so I associate it. But other than then, the addition of cream or milk or even lemon feels wrong. (I'm from Texas, and sweet Southern tea is a lifestyle, but never lemon even in slice form. It makes my family confused.)

I don't like anything in my tea but a bit of honey. A friend tried to put milk in my tea once (possibly because I drink my coffee at 40% cream) and I looked at her like 0____o.

*hands* Exactly. I use mostly sugar, but a few really benefit from honey instead to bring out the flavor.

I bought some chocolate tea on a whim from my local tea shop, on the theory that while I don't like sweetened tea, every once in a while I like milk or cream in strong black tea, and that would probably be excellently decadent with cream!

...It tastes to me as if it's got coffee in. I doubt it actually does, but that's how it tastes, and I find it undrinkable. I haven't yet brought myself to throw it out, but ewww.

I the specs on that, the 24 oz means it's perfect for two mug's worth. Generally teapots still think we're all drinking out of 5 oz tea cups and scale accordingly, so you're always stuck with those awful mug and a half personal teapots.

I use a 20 oz mug, and I get about two cups out of it, given the addition of sugar and I fill it to less than 3/4s. It's perfect.
