randomly watching

West Wing, Season Two, Ep 1:

No matter how many times I watch and brace myself for it--I know it is happening!--when Toby finds Josh, I completely break down. Every time.

I love this show. Also, ouch.

Oh God, that is one of my all time favorite episodes of ANYTHING.

I watched "Noel" last weekend when I went home. I'd forgotten how powerful that ep was and I cried buckets.

"Josh was hit." "hit with what?" is one of the most powerful moments of anything ever.

So, so true. I just rewatched that myself (I'm on my way through Season 2 now), and I cried all the way through it, silent tears washing the sides of my face.

I've probably watched that episode a dozen times because it's my favourite (very closely followed by Celestial Navigation) and I do the same thing. That's always when the tears start and I can't seem to stop myself.

That's because Richard Schiff is FUCKING AWESOME, is what he is, and putting that kind of trailing gasp in the line - which was just written "I need a doctor over here" - was one of a large number of fabulous choices he made in that role.

Have to watch that again, now.

oh man, I'm re-watching (for like the fourth... sixth time. whatever) and even though I'm barely halfway through season one, I KNOW IT IS COMING and it makes me all fluttery in my heart.

Yes, this, so much. First season still has some of my favorite eps, esp when Charlie was introduced to the White House.

I need to do a Charlie marathon one day of just his eps. He and Josh and Donna trace off as my favorite characters.

Yus! And all the Danny/C.J. flirting! I heart first season so much. It all just pings off and reminds of all the awesome stuff to come. XD

If it's any consolation, you're not alone! I bawl absolutely every time I see that episode, and I get more anxious watching the eps leading up to it. It's one of the reasons I'm glad I didn't watch West Wing as it aired. How did anyone handle the NOT KNOWING of it all?? Gosh, I just have all the Feelings about West Wing<3

(If we still had subject lines, I would title this comment "This show is the Best Show.")

From: [identity profile] lemonbella.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 05:11 pm (UTC)
You don't know me but I had to butt in and say I was one of those people who watched it as it aired *and* was watching it in the UK where we got season two about a year and a half after season one. I managed to get a VHS from the US(ah ye olde days before downloads...) of the opening ep of season two and settled down to watch, only to be confronted with the words in the shadow of two gunmen....part one". That's when I cried, for a whole other reason.

From: [identity profile] tygress.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 06:15 pm (UTC)
As someone who did watch it when it aired and had to sit through, what, three months of WAITING.

There was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth and I'm pretty sure I threw soda at my television. :)

From: [identity profile] flaming-muse.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 12:50 pm (UTC)
Oh, god, EVERY TIME. I remember one morning finding it airing while I was eating my breakfast and sobbing over my bagel. I can feel my chest clenching up just thinking of it.

So glad it isn't just me. :)

I rewatched The Supremes last week, so so good.

From: [identity profile] ionaonie.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 03:37 pm (UTC)
That is one of my all time favourite episodes.

I just. he put Donna's cats on the Supreme Court. How awesome is that?

From: [identity profile] feanna.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 08:12 pm (UTC)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that episode. She's just so awesome (by which I mean the judge, but the ep too).

From: [identity profile] omglawdork.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 01:49 pm (UTC)
Oh God, ME TOO. I don't know that I will ever, ever love another show quite the same way that I love The West Wing, especially the first two seasons. And that ep in particular! Oh, my heart.

I am not sure what breaks my heart more, the aftermath of the shooting in the beginning of the season, or the death at the end of the season.

I still think it probably the best show in the last 20 years.

From: [identity profile] ionaonie.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 03:35 pm (UTC)
OMG, I re-watched that episode last week (apparently I'm on a West Wing kick and have been watching it all over again) and, yes, even though, as Toby is calling for Josh, I know what's going to happen, I'm still biting my nails.

The bit that always gets me, is how Toby catches Josh as he falls. I just *hands* It gets me every time.

From: [identity profile] amy13.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 05:02 pm (UTC)
Toby's responsible for some of my more epic WW related weeping fits. Noel? Kills me dead. Oh, Toby.

EVERY SINGLE TIME. And then again when Donna's watching through the window and remembering "well, when I said I graduated, I may have been overestimating it a little.."

From: [identity profile] be-a-rebel.livejournal.com Date: 2012-02-04 07:13 pm (UTC)
I will love that show forever. And season 2........ahh, best season.

YES! I would totally vote for Jed Bartlet.

the one where Toby helps the homeless veteran and then the cops find his card on the guy's corpse. oy.

yeah. that show seriously rocked especially the first couple of seasons.

spotted Toby tonight, he had a walk-on in Once Upon a Time, as soon-to-be-dead King...
