Okay, after staring at Amazon's terrifying variety of versions of Downton Abbey seasons one and two, does anyone now which version I should get>

Does anyone know the difference? Or you know, which one to buy? Help?

I wouldn't go for anything that says Region 2 on it: it might be region locked. British uncut sounds the best, and anything that explicitly says Region Free is better than them all.

I've really got to see series two. I stopped watching after series one, and I really regret it.

Which version to buy?

Did you ever find out which to buy? I have spent several evenings reading all the descriptions trying to figure it out. I don't want to miss a minute!

My research on Sherlock Blu-rays (region free blu rays) led me to find out that sometimes even region free blu-rays from Europe / U.K. won't play correctly on all U.S. blu-ray players. (There was a list somewhere of what blu ray players would work for this purpose and which ones wouldn't....).

I bought Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey Season 1 [Blu-ray] (http://www.amazon.com/Masterpiece-Classic-Downton-Season-Blu-ray/dp/B004FM2ENU/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1327758927&sr=1-3), which plays on my Japanese Blu-ray player, which also plays US Blu-ray discs.

Can't help with season 2 because I am now deeply confused about the options and wondering how lucky did I get with the first season.

Here's the list of US blu-ray players that do and don't work with 50i blu-ray (i.e., UK "region-free" blu-ray discs):

If yours is on the "don't" list then you should definitely buy #2 and #4 respectively on your list.

I've wondered the same about the X-Files, as in what's the best way to buy the whole series? Too many choices. How do I satisfy this growing craving for Mulder and Scully? I miss them.

PBS cut nearly ten minutes from each episode. You still want the 'Masterpiece Classic' blu-rays, but make sure to get the ones that say "original UK edition" on the lower right corner of the cover. I noticed this one (http://www.amazon.com/Masterpiece-Classic-Downton-Season-Blu-ray/dp/B004FM2ENU/ref=tmm_blu_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1327782612&sr=1-3) has the correct cover in the product image.
