Okay, this is kind of boggling in a very weird way.

Smallville Search Inquiries and the rude behavior by [livejournal.com profile] mysticdreamer32, thought this link isn't to an LJ.

You know, the thing is? This really doesn't make a case for her point all that well. I mean, I need to check the quotes, but--really. IDEK.

I agree with you. Posting Person Needs to Stop Posting and Get a Life. Or at least a break from her computer.

Pecan Street was very hot but fun, and man, we have to hit up that gourmet popsicle place on Lamar--their coffee one was amazing.

From: [identity profile] ellixis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 09:28 pm (UTC)
... she was rude right from the beginning. "Amend your rules or grow up?" That's not exactly polite, and her reactions just went downhill from there.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 09:30 pm (UTC)
I know! Why would you post something that makes you look worse? I mean, dear God. IDEK.

From: [identity profile] bkwyrm.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 09:35 pm (UTC)
She is posting on XANGA. Which means she is a teenager. Or, at the very least, thinks like a teenager.
And in my experience, it doesn't always occur to teenagers that they look stupid demanding other people put on pants when their OWN ASS IS HANGING IN THE BREEZE.
Okay, maybe not just teenagers.....

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 09:37 pm (UTC)
*grins* Deifnitely thinks like one, in any case. Just--I kind of feel bad for her, because she seriously missed something there.

according to her userinfo, pushing forty. I'm all for pointing out when people are behaving badly, but lack of foresight and inability to qualify what behavior is appropriate in a given setting is definitely not limited to the young - a look at our politicians and celebrities should clearly demonstrate that, no?

From: [identity profile] formerlydf.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 10:11 pm (UTC)
I don't know if I'd describe it as thinking like a teenager, necessarily, but then again, that might just be because I'm a teenager and I don't want to be associated with silliness like that post. It was definitely an immature reaction, though. I can understand her feeling offended by being banned from the community, but she could've reconsidered her behavior (or at least sulked privately for a little!) while waiting for a response instead of just flying off the handle so quickly.

Does anyone know the time lapse between her demand to know why she was "being watched", and her decision to quit the comm?

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 10:15 pm (UTC)
Madelyn may have the IMs still, but i don't know. The thing is, she wasn't banned because of the before; she was banned because she threw a fit on a Saturday that I didn't reply to her immediately. That combined with her exchange with Madelyn didn't indicate she was going to pay attention to comm rules or was going to interact well with others.

The comm is really laid back. The last real problem we had was almost three years ago with svmaria and her sockpuppets. We pretty much like to keep it that way.

Headscratching over here. Seems like a case of The Internet Is Mean To Meeeeeeeee.

From: [identity profile] ionaonie.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 09:35 pm (UTC)
I just. Really?

There are some people who are just too attached to their computers.

Does she really believe she was polite at any point? If so, polite obviously doesn't mean what I think it means.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 09:47 pm (UTC)
I think her definition may be different?

From: [identity profile] ionaonie.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 10:59 pm (UTC)
Just a little bit *g*

Definitely in need of a dictionary (especially if it's a big, heavy one that could be used to hit her over the head and maybe give her a clue by four)

I have to say, never having heard of the comm that I think the rules sound clear from what she posted. It's called Search Enquries and states it is for hunts for fic, pleas for recs and searches within that fandom, so I take that to mean that if someone asks for recs you can post a list, but not make a specific post with a list, that's just how I would read it.

I'm not sure what she wanted to achieve with that post, she just comes across as someone who didn't read the rules then threw her toys out the pram when she was called on it. Sure it's going to sting being rebuked for not reading the rules, but this is an over reaction.

Also, and this may sound like nit-picking, but spell check is her friend, 'courtesy' not curtsy. When trying to write a scathing message I find it's best to double check you've spelled words correctly. She lost points with me for the 'curtsy' thing!

It is mind boggling indeed what people get up in arms about!

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-27 09:46 pm (UTC)
She wasn't even banned until she threw a fit that I didn't answer her very first question on why she was removed from the community fast enough.

Yeah, her spelling is not of the best.

She was a the very SOUL of polite inquiry and you are MEANIE BIG MEANIES for not letting her spam the community the way she wants to BECAUSE THE COMM RULES DON'T SPECIFICALLY PREVENT IT, OKAY??

If you don't WANT recs posted than you should specifically say IN YOUR PROFILE that recs aren't allowed. And recipes, and pictures of her dogs. Or cats. Or dragon eggs. WHATEVS.

MEANIE.

I'm not quite sure why she posted this publicly. It doesn't exactly make her look, shall we say, good. Also, I love how she time stamped to messages where she complained it took so long to respond, but not the first one she sent. How exactly are we supposed to know if took you mods FOREVER to answer her "polite" message if we can't when she sent the first message?

Also, you big meanies for calling her an idoit! *snerk*

From: [identity profile] cold-poet.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-28 03:02 am (UTC)
I don't believe she's been in the comm for three years. Nope. Because if she had she'd know Madelyn and Seperis are not the kind of mods who are going to hold your hand and pet your head while gently explaining that they were in error in not specifying in the rules that you CAN'T post recs, so that post is going to be deleted but, honey, it's not personal okay? And we'll go change those rules right now so no one ever gets confused about REQUESTS vs RECOMMENDATIONS ever ever again.

Which, kind of seems like what she was demanding hoping for?

From: [identity profile] shinetheway.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-28 04:18 am (UTC)
...so I now have a semi-overwhelming urge to kindly, politely, and in detail explain to her exactly where her fail occurred, and how, and how much of an idiot she comes across as.

I am resisting because frankly, I doubt she cares. Or that it would help.

[hugs you and madelyn]

From: [identity profile] quickthorne.livejournal.com Date: 2009-09-28 06:32 am (UTC)
... And why would she post something that makes her out to be an idiot?

My only other comment is this: She uses Comic Sans as her primary font. On her Xanga. Obviously she is disturbed. (My eyes!)

On the (total of 2 (low traffic)) comms I mod, my policy is I can't be bothered to explain the rules to anyone who can't be bothered to read them. I don't get why people have different expectations. I mean, does she try this with traffic cops? “It didn't say I couldn't ride on the roof of my car down the highway. Amend your rules!”

this mystic person, but well, my brain might not be good as well, but gmail is God, so ...

I think, back then, madelyn and me, we had several mail exchanges about her, something connected with svmaria, and whether mystic was her, and also, that person reposted fics by roxanne without the author consent.
my brain is still hurting when thinking back, but in conclusion:
mystic is the above average lunatic (as in contrast to us *normal* fannish lunatics).

I want to think of happy things :D

That post was suppose to be a private venting among my f-list about my frustration, not a pubic rant. It was not meant to be an open post that's was my mistake, so I'm sorry for that. I ask that you delete the link my xanga is for recs, and my private post are meant for my friends only. But you've got over seven hundred people tracking through my blog and i find it more than a little intrusive. Yes. I can be rude when I'm treated that way and my mind this hasn't changed the matter. This is not a favorite fandom of mine infact I haven't even watched the show in years. But I still had alot recs so I was going to post them. And now I have a place to put them. Your com's high-handed behavior doesn't do a thing for me . so i'm glad be to rid of it. But was the principle of the matter that pissed me off. It wasn't fair behavior and i said to other it will come back on you later.

Well you have my isp
