Okay, so after the events of San Antonio, which I really cannot go into or I'll start my rant on the difference between a bad mood and freaking psychiatric condition....

Read this and think about how weird and unexpected and amazing the world is.

Same blue dye in M&Ms linked to reducing spine injury, via CNN

Also, in a far less important but cute point of order--oh my God, look at that mouse!

That mouse is absolutely adorable. The little PAWS!

Also, wow. Let's hear it for science!

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 06:51 pm (UTC)
Yes to both.

THE PAWS OMG.

How did I not realize until this very minute that I desperately need a tiny blue mouse?

*hands* welcome to my life. I want that mouse like whoa.

(And I say this as the sister of someone with an SCI...) Fantastic!

And that's my alma mater! *is proud*

There are many reasons to be concerned about animal testing, but that's just the cutest thing I've ever seen. Also, this raises the possibility they can turn mice all sorts of colours...

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 07:12 pm (UTC)
I know. I want that mouse so much.

From: [identity profile] innocentsmith.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 07:08 pm (UTC)
I'm imagining a brave new world in which people with spine injuries will be able to walk around again, as long as they don't mind doing it while blue. Which I would think would be a reasonable tradeoff.

I am also reminded of this icon (http://www.journalfen.net/userpic/57829/188).

So, basically, you have brightened up my day. As did the mouse. ♥

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 07:12 pm (UTC)
I totally would not mind being blue under those circumstances.

From: [identity profile] twilight-angel.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 07:10 pm (UTC)
That is so amazingly bizarre. And spectacular if it works as well for humans. Now the question becomes: will humans also turn blue? *ponders* And yes, that mouse is officially the cutest thing ever.

It is!

AWWW! I desperately need a cute blue-pawed mouse to pet now!

And hey, maybe these guys were onto something, they just used the wrong thing to turn themselves blue!

Colloidal silver will also turn you blue, irreversibly.

It will be a sad, sad world if these folks wind up marketing a medication the name of which does not include the word "Smurf."

"Smurfidium?" "Smurfide?" "Smurfana?" "Smurfine?"

From: [identity profile] lydiabell.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 07:42 pm (UTC)
"Smurfectin is safe and effective, but like any medication, it can have side effects. If you're feeling blue, have blue balls, or live in a blue state, Smurfectin may not be right for you.

Ask your doctor about Smurfectin."

Wow. That mouse is the cutest thing I've seen today (my kitties notwithstanding *g*). Who knew that blue would be a good color on white mice?

And yes, Yeah for Science!

From: [identity profile] snarkydame.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 08:02 pm (UTC)
That's an awesome discovery, and an adorable mouse . . . but I can only shudder to think that they probably intentionally damaged that mouse's spinal cord in order to test it. Aww science. You give and you take at the same time.

From: [identity profile] califmole.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-28 08:09 pm (UTC)
The universe owes you a mouse with blue ears and paws. Who else could properly appreciate it?

On the one hand I feel really bad for the mouse, because it must have had its spine broken in this experiment? So basically this reasearch is like mouse and rat torture, even if for a potentially good cause. OTOH blue really suits white mice.

From: [identity profile] jamesinboots.livejournal.com Date: 2009-07-29 12:38 am (UTC)
!!! Oh my God, that little mousie is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Awwwwwwwwwwwww. That whole thing really makes me smile. Who woulda thought blue die could potentially treat spinal injuries? WIN.

I knew that I liked the blue M&Ms for a reason!

Also, the blue tinged ears killed me with the cute. D'awwww.
