Ghost moose. Good idea/bad idea?

Please don't--ask. I'm sleep deprived, at work today is the deadline for our test scripts for the program, and I seriously here thinking, ghost moose. Wandering Chicago. I don't think it's a mission of vengeance, but honestly, I didn't get any farther than saying it and starting a sentence using it before I realized that is completely insane. I think the real problem here is, I'm sublimating my desire for a pony.

I really need sleep. And I probably will not be getting it until Friday. OTOH, there is caramel coffee at work and that kind of makes the universe worthwhile.

Reminder

Dead Letter Variations Challenge continues to run until August 31st. Any fandom, any type, any length, as many as you want, all rules are listed in the post, but basically this:

take a character.

kill him/her.

let him/her write one last letter. it can be to the world. it can be to a particular person. it can be to no one.

s/he's died, and this is all that remains.

And I accept variations on this; if you think your story fits, I am not going to argue the point. I'm just cheap and want fic, basically.

And...that's done. Going to go--work I think. Since I'm here and all.

You know, I think there's a SG-1 story along those lines... Only it's not a ghost, it's a Goa'uld'd moose. I think Daniel tried to have a conversation with it. Then again, I could be wrong.

Have a pony - it's better than a moose, honestly [Unless you're talking the Chocolate Moose from the Rocky Mountain Candy Shoppe - than all bets are off]. :)

I think I remember this! *thinks* I don't think the moose was really a Goa'uld. I think Daniel was drunk and *thought* it was a Goa'uld moose. Then again, I could be wrong.

Yes! That's it! The Swedish expert... How could I forget the Swedish expert? Because, really, who else are you going to get to talk to a moose?

Amusingly, when the phrase "Goa'uld moose" came up, I immediately thought of a completely different story. There are more than one of them. But I can't find the other one -- all I remember is that it's one of the SGA characters (possibly Chuck) having his first introduction to the Stargate program when he's attacked by a moose with glowing eyes and whatsisface from SG-1 (the Adam Baldwin character) comes out of nowhere and blows it up.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Please be aware that ponies are evil.

The evil is inversely proportional to size.

They are smart, they are cunning, they have a sense of humor only they appreciate, and they know where all the human buttons are.

They open locks, they slither under fences then run away as soon as you think you can put the halter on and lead them back to a life of luxury, they know exactly how high the branch has to be to scrape a rider off on.

Ghost moose are far preferable. Especially because they are 1) not domestic animals and have little to no experience in human befuddlement and 2) because they are endearingly lopsided.

...I see some kind of Due South/Torchwood or Due South/Buffy crossover here, btw.

I vote for Ghost Moose. Because it completely fits in with the DS magic realism thingey, and because the very idea is just that adorable.
that is all...

Ghost moose?

*glee*

Ghost moose!

*flail* & *grabby hands*

Yes, please.

(Also, now I have the image of that young moose who wanders through Cicely, Alaska, during the opening of Northern Exposure. And I also want to point out what wonderfully insane counterpoints John & Rodney make to Fraser & RayK....)
