For my own reminders, since I like quotes, and comparisons to land wars in Asia automatically rock.

From The 100th Day in [livejournal.com profile] news, March 12, 2008

Wow. So in celebration of your 100th day of owning LJ, you bend your customer base over and sodomize them? I was not aware of this particular practice. Was this perhaps developed in Siberia?
-- [livejournal.com profile] ardath_rekha, link

Jason, you're fighting a land war in Asia here. Really, you are. Do yourself a favor and get out before you find yourself accidentally committed to bombing Cambodia ...

[livejournal.com profile] one_cup_of_tea: Does it have to patronize, annoy and lie to its userbase to grow adapt change develop?
[livejournal.com profile] lorataprose: That's totally a feature, you guys.
[livejournal.com profile] one_cup_of_tea: Can they add a feature where, when you log in, lj rapes you up the ass and steals your wallet?
[livejournal.com profile] lorataprose: You're in luck! I believe that one's scheduled for the next un-announced release!
-- convo in comments, link

Oh also I love how you made this post which demonstrates the bureaucratic bullshit most blogers find completely offensive
"Overnight you also raised legitimate concerns about how this change was unveiled - message received, loud and clear. We're still working out how to strike just the right tone when communicating with such a diverse and complex collection of communities."
Here is an example of what not to say to a bloger as what the bloger hears is
"Overnight you made us realize you won't hold your heads to our ass and listen for the blow with glee, we will be more careful the next time we fart"
-- [livejournal.com profile] hdofu, link

Wow. Is it challenging, using that many words to say absolutely nothing at all?

[livejournal.com profile] angrychicken: I can tell you, I was absolutely befuddled and dumbfounded by the amount of choices. You should see me try to order off the dollar menu at McDonalds.

[livejournal.com profile] legomymalfoy: I get confused at stoplights. I mean, red yellow AND green? D:

That one, yes. I think I possibly watched them back to back and then passed out with a sharp pain behind my right eye.

Hee! Granted, Brad Pitt is a sucking black hole of suckitude, and the story 1) didn't have Odysseus find Achilles hiding in a girls school dressed in drag, 2) excised the Achilles/Patroclus romance, and 3) fucked around with who lived and died at the end.

On the other hand, Sean Bean as Odysseus! Eric Bana as Hector! Peter O'Toole! And Brian Cox! Did I mention Sean Bean?! Plus, Wolfgang Petersen is actually competent at storytelling, cinematography and editing.

Still, I imagine seeing it back to back with Alexander would have been traumatizing ...
