My morning so far:

[livejournal.com profile] chopchica: hey, i bet, deep down in your sould (or possibly right on top), you are still VERY BITTER about the burrito!
[livejournal.com profile] chopchica: not to mention the part where i basically trained you to become an expert in dragon rape!
[livejournal.com profile] seperis: I am not yet an expert in dragon rape.
[livejournal.com profile] chopchica: but you will be! especially after you write the definitive story!
[livejournal.com profile] chopchica: where rodney saves them all from the wraith by coming up with a probability theory involving DRAGON RAPE

...I cannot possibly be awake yet. I feel vaguely like this has something to do with [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777 and my external hard drive (still in the freezer, because now that i know what is wrong, I can't figure out if it's okay to defrost it now or wait until I get an enclosure--(oh my God, I put my hard drive in the freezer)), but I haven't even had a full cup of coffee yet.

*shakes small fist in [livejournal.com profile] chopchica's direction* Not. Fair. When I'm still Uncaffeinated.

I am... trying very, very hard to feel bad. Really, I am. Except mostly I am bouncing with glee because yes yes want omg.

I cannot possibly express the love I have for CAH. It's wrong and yet -- I really don't care. I think it's probably my favoritest fanfic story ever, in any fandom.

CAH is supposed to be wrong. So really, teh more wrong it feels, the more I am sure you are interrogating the textual medium from the correct perspective*!

*No I do not know what it means, but I've really been struggling for an opportunity to use it.

I just want to say that I do not think you should feel bad. You are only trying to push inspire an artist to greater heights through the judicious application of well-timed prodding praise.

IT IS FOR THE GREATER GOOD!

You put your hard drive into the freezer? Why??

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2008-02-15 03:38 pm (UTC)
...well. Okay. All my media is on it and I thought it was dying and I needed it, so I read that freezer == good! And so did my professor. And then I found out it was just the internal power, which is fixable. And now I have a hard drive that I don't want to defrost quite yet.

I make things complex sometimes.

This reminds me that I ought to make backups more often. I mean, I try to have everything important on two hard disks and one DVD backup just in case, with everything else at least on either two hard disks or one hard disk and one DVD backup, but I'm not always diligent and current with my backups. I think it is because in my decades of using computers I have never had a hard disk die on me. It makes me complacent.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2008-02-15 03:58 pm (UTC)
I've had a few die, but I"m still lazy. *G* That's why I bought two, one of which is specifically so convenient and small that I can't make up any excuses why not to use it.

The only time I ever lost data on a hard disk was when I had a dual boot system with Windows 95 and Linux, and Windows couldn't handle sharing, and completely messed up the MBR one day. Physically the hard disk was fine and still worked for years after reformatting, just none of the data was recoverable by any means I had. I stopped using Windows after that.

I keep thinking I'll switch, especially considering that just looking at Vista makes me tense. OTOH, I probably won't have a lot of time or motivation until I get to that subject in school, so--hopefully I'll avoid Vista altogether.

Well, Linux has it's own set of problems, like sometimes it's hard to get hardware to work, because vendors don't give access to info for drivers and stuff, but for me it mostly came down to Linux being so much cheaper and somewhat less of a hassle with the security. I don't need any special programs, and I just can't justify paying anything software if I can get what I need for free. Also it is kind of satisfying that you don't get inexplicable error codes but with determination and a bunch of how-to files can usually fix errors and find out what caused your problems. I like that kind of order and predictablity.

These definitely sound like dream conversations. Did [livejournal.com profile] chopchica appear to you as, say, a hot pink bunny wearing a Nirvana t-shirt? Were there talking kitchen appliances? Were you sitting in your cubicle at work wearing only your underwear?

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2008-02-15 03:57 pm (UTC)
...okay, I hate you, because suddenly I could not remember if I had put on underwear and ran to the bathroom.

I really, really need more coffee. This stuff must be decaf or mescaline laced.

Hee hee! I don't think I've ever forgotten underwear (as an adult, I mean), but it does end up inside out more often then I'd like to admit.

I have heard that the freezer thing works for bad platters, but no, I don't think it'll help the power thing. Um. I'd probably take it out. But I don't know what the established proper procedure is there. *Giggles* if it's standard 3.5 inch, you could probably crack open one of your desktops, and slave it to them as a secondary drive. I haven't done this, but I hear it's quite simple.

Also.
What is dragon rape? And why? I thought dragons liked virgins? Did they rape the nights? And I'm getting very bad images involving those jousting sticks and the what nights did to the dragons now thank you very much. ;-)

Is the dragon raping or being raped? Because in some fandoms they're endangered species. *smiles wholesomely*
