There has to be the emo Rodney fic - you could do it entirely in dialogue form with Rodney going "Booohooo booohooo", because you can tell by that alone that not only do people not understand his pain, but that they mock him, they mock him and hurt his gentle soul. And then he can eat lemons, and die, and that'll show them, that'll show them all!

But of course then John has healing lemon recovering sex in the infirmary and Rodney's saved and learns to love and feel again. Then he cries, but this time, from happiness.
