So that episode.
I refuse to be analytical or interesting. I will, however, make a numbered list of squee.
Squee.
1.) I like Dr. Kaylee. Yes, I'm sure she has another name. I'll learn it later. She is adorable. I am pleased.
2.) I just got to see a phalanx of jumpers playing Asteroid. If there is something more awesome than that, I cannot imagine what it is.
3.) Wait. Rodney called him John. I don't even know what to do with that. Rodney called him John! I can repeat that for like, ever. Wait. I will.
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
I'll stop now. Though I don't want to, really.
Er, I have no idea what number I was on.
4.) Zelenka's continuing dislike of things that take him from the lab. You know, now that I was ever doubting, but I can kind of see another reason that Rodney was chosen Chief Science Officer. On the other hand, he did his job and that space jump was just freaking awesome.
5.) Ronon/Elizabethness. I just--I never expected to see it. But there it is. With Ronon watching her brought in with a worried look, then going to talk to her and I have no words because oh my God. Thank you. To whatever shipper diety watches over ships. Wow. Yes.
6.) You know, I'm beginning to wonder if it's something about John, that he can stand there with a perfectly calm face and project intense grief. That was--I thought he was going to cry. When Rodney was doing his near-death experience, yeah, but this was--all focused and it *hurt*. I felt like crying for him.
7.) Rodney's "I'm sorry" (has this ever happened? He didn't even say that after Trinity, did he?) and John's instant cave-in. He tried, I saw him try, but no. It was--very beautiful. It was very--seriously. Wow. His mouth.
*squints* You know, Sheppard has a very nice mouth.
8.) I forget. Did I mention...
Rodney called him John!
Rodney called him John!
Yeah. Just checking.
9.) PHALANX OF JUMPERS! Yes, I'm repeating myself. It bears repeating.
10.) So I'm thinking Elizabeth the Partial Replicator is going to figure into The Great Replicator Heist.
11.) The Great Replicator Heist. I--would like to say more than that, but I can't get over Rodney's glee--of course John wants a heist. That's like asking if the sun will rise somewhere in the universe. And of course Rodney is all over it. They're like--they're like the personification of Disasterous Yet Strangely Workable Mischief. Let's go check out this Wraith ship! Let's go decomputerize a whole bunch of ships! Let's go take over Atlantis from the Replicators! Let's cross that out on our Big List of Really Cool Shit to Do! Which they have. On there is also Joyride in an Asgard Cruiser and Play Hide and Seek With Genii and the universe is like some huge scavenger hunt, isn't it? Possibly with reminders like Remember to pack extra bullets and Bring extra powerbars and This time, have an extra knife.
A Heist. Of course. Of course.
11.) Okay, overall:
Atlantis is the Epitome of the application of Murphy's Law. It just is. There is nothing that doesn't go wrong. Every time. And near the end, they aren't even surprised--they just look blank, sigh, and go back to stare at their laptops for the next Brilliant Idea.
In summmary:
Rodney called him John!
Again, priorities. They are there.
