fannish things to ponder
Okay, so. I feel all warm and cuddly in fandom's general direction, so.
Two options:
1.) Ask me about my fic--something I wrote, character, plotline, even a really short commentary--and I'll give you an explanation, snippet, or something. Kind of like a dvd commentary, but shorter and faster. *g*
OR
2.) If I've recced your fic and you don't know why or want to know what I liked about it and I was unclear (this happens a lot), ask. And I'll tell you.
Um, I'll do as many as I can, but I don't know how many that will be. So um, if you're interested, post.

And that must have been the best accident ever! I wish I had accidents like that.

Okay, if Ami's going to write it, then I won't post the missing bits, since they might contradict what she comes up with.

From:I just reread this yesterday (for the umpteenth time), so it was really nice to see more of it. Thanks for posting the extra bits (I just read that post, then came back here to see what more you had in the comments).

From:I was torn by the ending. The choosing to stay lost on the planet. When I first read The Forest People, I had to stop & think about it for awhile. Normally, I'd be all "hey! we never leave anyone behind, damnit, they have to be rescued from themselves!". BUT I couldn't bear the thought of them losing the connection between themselves, the ease and emotional feedback loops. As sad as I was at the thought of the team being lost to Atlantis (and Atlantis being lost to the team), I liked their feralness.
I read your new snippet with trepidation, I admit :-). Of course, given that it's you & it's more of this particular story I couldn't not read it.
I loved the snippets -- Rodney was wonderful *rowr* & John's (and Teyla's and Ronon's) emotions so bittersweet. I'd love to read more, and have it fleshed out - (oh, hell, let me be honest -- yes, I'd like to see mroe plot... but I want more physcialness! pack! sexiness! *iamsoshallow* ).
I hope that if they do stay in Atlantis, they are able to keep their pack together, with as much of the connection as possible and shared quarters.

From:*****
"No, you're *not* getting it," Rodney says, fighting the urge to do--something. There are reasons on reasons that he's not armed right now; he has no idea what he'd do. "If they--look, when they come through, it's not--they're not going to instantly just--revert." He shouldn't have to explain this. They should *know*.
"Rodney," Elizabeth says patiently, "we're not leaving you in the gate room alone."
"Because you have some suicidal Marines? Look, I don't care how well trained they are. We're--not the same." He can feel Lorne's eyes on him, curious and disbelieving. "I *know*, and no one will get a shot off because they'll be dead before they can get their fingers to the trigger, and by the way, if the idea was to *kill them*, then I don't see the point of this. I don't even see the point of being here."
"Rodney--"
Turning, Rodney catches Lorne's arm, pushing him into the table, jerking his gun arm up behind his back and pulling the gun before Elizabeth finishes the word. Pressing the muzzle against the back of Lorne's neck, Rodney looks up. "What have we learned?"
Elizabeth doesn't move, stretching her hands out carefully at her sides. No threat. "Rodney?"
"If I can do it, and I've been off that planet for days, then they'll be able to, and let me just say, they're better at this." Lorne shifts under him; Rodney jerks his wrist higher, pinning him under his weight, kicking Lorne's feet apart to throw his balance. "Stay. Down."
Elizabeth licks her lips, gaze cutting between them for a moment before she nods slowly. Rodney holds Lorne for a second, just to make the point, and feels Lorne's body go limp. "Better. Now can we get on with this?" Not pack. Every instinct Rodney has is howling. Not pack. Not family. Not *us*.
Not a fucking *threat*. Rodney jerks back, dropping the gun.
When Lorne straightens, the dark eyes flicker down, and that helps him relax. "They're going to come through hot. We can't afford--" He stops. "If it goes wrong, you'll have to kill us. And we only have one chance to do it right."

From:This is gorgeous. Really really gorgeous. Rodney half-way between here and there, and the rest of them just not getting it - oh God, this is beautiful. This entire story is so damn beautiful. More, please?
