Okay, I give up. Sherlock recs? Please? With sugar on top? I feel like a goddamn junkie and left to my own devices, I'll hit the kink meme first and that can't end well. I mean, literally--there might be crying.

Pleeeasseeee? I need this. I've been editing and beta'ing AIRPS fic all day.

Not sure if it's uncouth to pass on someone else's recs, but jerakeen just posted quite a few Sherlock Holmes recs here:

Light Our Own Fires by [personal profile] blackeyedgirl. Set post-The Great Game, and my new favourite Sherlock fic. It gets right to the heart of the characters, and is beautifully written on top of that.

I haven't read much Sherlock yet, but if you haven't watched it already I recommend having a look at the 'unaired' pilot version of Ep1 if you can get hold of it. It's amazing how slight differences in style and interpretation can change aspects of a show. I actually slightly prefer the unaired version, although that doesn't detract from my appreciation of the final versions.

The following link may assist - there's only a couple of Sherlock recs on Ruric's journal currently, but as she was the one whose recs got me into Merlin, I suspect they'll be excellent reads and I suspect there may be more to come. http://ruric.dreamwidth.org/tag/recs:+fiction+-+sherlock

I don't have recs because I'm too much in the haze of reading everything posted EVAR, but I was going through the prompts/fills at the sherlockbbc_fic LJ comm, and found a Great Mouse Detective/Sherlock crossover WITH a vid. AUGH SO MUCH AWESOME:

I'm still waiting to see the BBC series, but I've been gobbling up fic for the movie like crack-rock candy.

Laws of thermodynamics series (http://community.livejournal.com/libraryofsol/tag/series:%20thermodynamics) by [livejournal.com profile] entangled_now is one of my favorite things I've read in this fandom. Actually anything she writes in sherlock is fucking amazing.

I made a rec list (http://verizonhorizon.livejournal.com/102605.html#cutid1) post that's primarily fluff, with exceptions that have all been covered in above lines. One author my rec list has that many don't because she hasn't been posting to comm's is garryowen@dreamwidth - great stuff!

From: [identity profile] lurkerlynne.livejournal.com Date: 2010-09-05 10:47 pm (UTC)
[livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc has declared Sundays to be recday (http://community.livejournal.com/sherlockbbc/593542.html) and here's the reclist tag (http://community.livejournal.com/sherlockbbc/tag/reclist)

And if you want to cannonball into the fandom, I had a request from someone to upload my collection (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SRSM0T3E). It's almost 500 stories/13MB of unorganized, varied pairing (no incest and very little Sherlock/Moriarty) fic in flavors ranging from gen to slash to squint. There's dark!fic, deathfic and the occasional non-con tossed in for variety. And a few WIPs, which are marked.
