in mourning

So I'm dropping off John after work to be fixed. I just *narrowly* avoided explaining John has certain eccentricities and to handle him gently and don't leave him alone too long or he gets grouchy. I did ask over and over when they'd have him fixed. I'm fairly sure the nice guy on the other end of the phone wondered if I was sane. He'd probably guess no. And he'd be right.

I have no idea what it says about me that I'm twitching at the idea of anyone--*anyone*--touching John that isn't me or isn't in my line of sight, but honestly? I just don't care.

Also, as of Sunday, John too has been disassembled once, and also, huh, two extra screws? Intersting. And frightening. And wow, that motherboard is complex and strange and *compressed*.

Seriously. I'm already in withdrawl. This is so not of the good.

Brian had *better* be working. Brian being the desktop. I don't even know if I can remember how to *use* that keyboard. This is so worrisome. Also, I am going to panic now? So you know. Feel free to mock me.

*chews nails* God. So panicked.

My thoughts are with you and John in these dark and trying times.

*sniffles* We need it.

JOHN!

*gentle eyes* Would I mock?

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:12 pm (UTC)
Yes. Violently.

From: [identity profile] amireal.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:16 pm (UTC)
I am shocked! Shocked you would feel this way about me!

*clings* Completely understandable, all of it. My computer has better security than my *house* does. That's where my priorities are.

It will be okay! John will return, ruggedly handsome and feeling much better.

*breathes* Yes. Yes yes yes. Yes.

You and [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn are the same person aren't you? You're always posting at almost the same time...

(yeah, I'm nuts, but midterms are approaching and all I have done is a sugar high)

Two extra screws? Don't worry. They come from Diassembly Place, which produces extra screws, bolts and strangley shaped pieces of plastic whenever you take something apart.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:34 pm (UTC)
*giggles* No, though I have my suspicions that Madelyn isn't teh undead. Can't *prove* it, but there it is.

Also--yes. It's like--a great galactic balnacing act for all the lost socks.

John will be just fine. And you're not over reacting - when my laptop went in for repairs, I called every day to check on her.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:32 pm (UTC)
I am totally goign to be doing that too! Probably every afternoon.

So I'm not teh only one.

I got a seriously long way through your post before I stopped trying to work out which of your rabbits was John.

It's - um, been a long week?

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:09 pm (UTC)
*collapses* Oh man. No, I totally get it.

*hugs you* It's Monday. Totally understandable.

*chokes* I hadn't thought of it that way.

It took me a bit to realize this was a bunny you were talking about. No wait, it's a laptop!

Brian?

From: [identity profile] logovo.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:13 pm (UTC)
No, John ys the desktop. Oy, I feel slow today.

From: [identity profile] logovo.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:14 pm (UTC)
Wow. Forget slow, how about DAMAGED. OK, back to bunny.

I'll go and be quiet now.

Completely understand about seperation anxiety. The first few weeks after I got my laptop I used to put it back into the box when I stepped out of my room for more than an hour. Now I just put it inside my desk drawer. See? I've improved a little...

My sympathy is with you in these difficult times *pets*

Do you think John had some screws loose because his motherboard was so complex and strange with him as a child?

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:42 pm (UTC)
*chokes slowly* Possibly. Very, very possibly.

From: [identity profile] beadattitude.livejournal.com Date: 2006-10-23 09:47 pm (UTC)
::pets you:: Oh hon.

When my old powerbook broke (I mean the screen came off in my hand, I wandered around trying to give non-electronic objects voice commands for days.

::plaintive::"Move page down, move page down....."

Coincidentally, this was around the time I discovered fanfiction, so I was separated from my compy AND porn fandom. ::shivers at the thought::

So. Total sympathies.

Okay, so. I started reading this, So I'm dropping off John after work to be fixed. I did ask over and over when they'd have him fixed. I'm fairly sure the nice guy on the other end of the phone wondered if I was sane. He'd probably guess no. And he'd be right. And I was all "okay, she's dropping off her cat to get neutered. Interesting!

And then Also, as of Sunday, John too has been disassembled once, ...bzuh? and also, huh, two extra screws?

Must remember- not everything is about cats.

is John a Mac? I couldn't let go of my first precious (aka m first Mac laptop) I even sent him away to have a full organ transplant (and I was so afraid that he wouldn't make it! They send him to Ireland and yes, he too came back not fully himself!) - so now he no longer lives in the little piece of expensive white designer junk I loved so much but has taken root in the Mac know as Big Evil Twin (iMac G5/largest monitor possible) - It took me several tries to get the perfect background picture - John hunting his team in Phantoms. I guess I feel still a bit alienated by all the perfection and size, and yes, this being the fastest bestest most genial comp in the whole universe, and no matter that it's John's green eyes I see when I power him up every morning I feel it in my bones, this Mac is now a Rodney. ;-)

I'm so sorry about your laptop. My own broke down twice in two months recently (I had to get a new laptop after the second time, not being mechanically inclined as you seem to be-go you!), leaving me stranded only weeks after I had discovered Stargate Atlantis fanfic! I was devastated! I hope your desktop works, and that John comes back soon, in one piece!

*pets* G

od, this reminds me of how I felt when I had to take in my laptop [Rodney] in. He was still working. Just needed a new audio jack and a fixed CD-R writer. And a new USB port. But! Still functional only hardware issues that wasn't even the screen or hardrive. I waited until practically the day before his three year warranty expired to take him in.

And I was anxious waiting for the call to go pick him up.

I feel your worry.

*pet Rodney*
