Bliss

Spent money I couldn't afford to, and don't care.

1.) White flesh peaches
2.) Season six Buffy DVDs (WHEE WHEE WHEE!)
3.) Return of the King (I broke down)
4.) Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker
5.) Super Smash Bros

Things I Didn't Buy, But Because They Weren't There
1.) Small CD player for my office. (whee! office!)
2.) Small lamp for my office, so I don't have to use pesky overhead lights.

Things I Am Still Putting Off Buying
1.) Digital camera - I just know the second I buy, I'll find one I want more somewhere.
2.) Printer - I have no idea what kind to buy. Or what to use it for. I just don't print a lot.
3.) Cell phone - I'm being contrary.

I'm still watching www.hotwire.com obsessively for tickets to New York. So far, the lowest I've found is 278, which okay, *cool*, but I start getting hiveish when I have no idea what time I'd be flying out or anything of the sort until after I buy. And buying this early is both good and bad. Good in that, hell or high water, this thing is happening if I have to track down people to show up, but bad because--wait, there is bad? I haven't traveled in forever. I'm actually bouncing about this.

The time thing scares me, though. Badly. But not enough to pay an extra hundred fifty for a ticket either. Yet, anyway. I can buy DVDs with that, that's what I keep thinking.

It's, I'm sure, a bad sign that at the beginning of every month, I spend wildly and then eat rice at work for lunch for days near the end of the month. It makes my balance sad, though admittedly, my jeans fit well. On the other hand, I've automated pretty much all my bill paying--I no longer actually see the money that goes out--and automated my savings, so I never actually feel like that money is really mine, either. Mature people probably have better ways to deal with this. I'm not one of those people. I used to never have a check card, because then whenever I wanted something, I had to make the effort to find my ID, go physically to the bank, and get the money out myself. This had a downside. My bank was Very Near Half-Price Books. You can tell where the majority of my income used to go.

And the majority of the floor space in my life.

Chatting here by [livejournal.com profile] reboot.

[livejournal.com profile] wrenlet is all wise and stuff here.

[livejournal.com profile] quinn gives us another view here.

More people are not posting their wise thoughts. That makes everyone very, very sad. Very sad.

Consequence by [livejournal.com profile] ragingpixie. Mmm. *Pretty*. If the show will not give us porn, we must be vigilant and produce it ourselves.

And btw? If anyone gives me Brian-in-leather porn, I will write them whatever they want. Whatever. They. Want.

Poison Jam! A QaFUS RPS, Part II by [livejournal.com profile] mintwitch is up! Oh thank GOD. I was searching through her old entries in terrible desperation trying to find the second part until I discovered she hadn't written it yet. *breathes* Happier now. First part can be found here.

And [livejournal.com profile] escapist_xbq is a very special, wonderful human being. No, not in the short-bus way, either. Chris Kirkpatrick and Brian Kinney Have Some Sex. And they do. They really, really do. Okay, I've looked up adn down and back up that page, and I don't see a lcok on the entry, and I don't think I'm friended, so it should be good to go. I've got to adapt myself to the new LJ styles someday. *sighs*

Did I mention Brian in leather porn yet?

Sounds like a trip to Target! Cheap lamps and CD players.

I hear you on the digital cameras. Unfortunately, the best digital cameras cost what the best SLR cameras do - 300 - $500. If I were you? I'd buy something name brand, like Sony, but not top of the line, and update it in a couple years.
Hewlett Packard printers are warhorses. Epson ones are finicky. I've had one epson that died after being transported by Oops/UPS, and that never really worked with the system I had installed. My parents have an HP laserprinter that still works that's at least 7 years old.

You know, a bunch of people I know, being the age where they get their first apartment and such, aren't installing land lines at all; just using their cell phones. It's cheaper, evidently, esp. since most cell phone packages I've seen come with voice mail. Of course, for internet purposes, you need a landline. I can only imagine the horror of a cell line connection... The best use for cellphones is getting directions when I inevetibly get horribly, horribly lost and can't find the place I'm supposed to be going. I end up in entirely different cities. I didn't even know there *was* a township of Enterprise here. And It's way too easy to end up in Green Valley. Stupid beltway. I guess I'm lucky I didn't take the 95 turnoff and end up in San Diego.

Hmm. My brother in law uses his night minutes for internet, since he says it's much faster. Though I'm not equally sure of its reliability, either.

*smiles sunnily* Make a note that should we ever travel together, we kidnap someone to give us directions. I can get lost in a parking lot, no sweat.

There are many, many reasons that smart people ask for anyone *but* me to give directions. Or receive them.

4.) Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker
Great game! Of course, I had to buy the walk through book. It's the only way I can do those long games.

If anyone gives me Brian-in-leather porn, I will write them whatever they want. Whatever. They. Want.

Seriously contemplating taking you up on that offer.

Windwaker is easy crack (be careful, you'll wake up on a Sunday morning and realize your hand has formed to the controller). Not as good as OoT but still very, very addicting <g>

I so love you. Brian in leather. That's--that's hyperventilation territory.

Must pace self. Anything B/Jish--okay, Brian and someone hot--wearing leather?

Those printer/scanner combos are of the good. (And double as copiers, too, which can be handy.)

Cellphones are also hella fun -- camera phones can come in handy, though I went for webphone over camera since I carry my digital camera in my bag all the time anyway. Came in useful Saturday when I was checking my Yahoo inbox from a Denny's and sending e-mail to the person I was waiting to meet up with...

*snickers* My life would become digital technology.

I"m rebelling on teh cell phone because right now, I *like* that there are actual moments I can be kind of--well, lost.

Yet they are useful. *grr* Decisions.

The thing about cell phones, not only do you generally have caller ID so you can pick and choose who you want to talk to, but you can shut them off -- or claim that it was shut off or that the battery had powered down without you noticing, to give an excuse for not having answered a call you didn't want to take at that time. And they are invaluable for calling and asking directions when you get lost, to say nothing of finding someone when you choose to meet up at a large crowded location (like a con or ren faire). Plus I've been known to call Mom from the store or the drive-through: "They don't have it. Which of these do you want me to get instead?" or "What did you say you wanted again?"
