good news?

I'm accepted to start the fall semester, and from what I can tell, I *am* a senior, and therefore, at thirty hours or less from graduation if I stay in the same major.

I'm just going to quietly breathe into a paper bag as I realize I haven't written a *paper* in about four years.

*paper bag, quietly*

Maybe this was a bad idea.

No! It's a WONDERFUL THING!:-D

I just completed my BA degree this past winter after 11 years of going on and off (I took a two year break myself, so I understand about the paper writing thing! *HUGS) and I feel so PROUD of myself!

Sure the college loans will be a pain to pay back but it was SO SO SO worth it!

I think you'll do great! :D If you need help or encouragement or just an ear to listen, let me know! I've been in your shoes and I can sympathize!

Congratulations!

Yes. Totally.

Good on you! I know the time frame is slightly different but I found that my papers were actually way better after I took a year and a half off from Uni.

God, I'm just hoping I remember *how* to write them. *Breathes* It'll come to me. I will.

Thanks! *hugs*

Maturity makes going to school easier, and you'll be better at prioritizing and self-discipline than before.

You'll be so far above the median senior's writing abilities that you have no need to worry. It's amazing how many college grads can't string coherent thoughts together. You'll shine, I just know it.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2004-05-19 05:48 pm (UTC)
True. I have gotten good at the self-discipline thing.

*takes* I'm borrowing your faith for awhile, 'kay? Until mine comes out from beneath the bed.

*Hugs very hard* Thank you.

Yeah it's good news.

Come join out misery.

I've been in grad school since 1999. It's been slow going because of health issues, but if all goes well I'll finish next June. I went back to school 15 years after I finished undergrad. I was so out of practice it wasn't funny.
I just turned in my final project today.

Last semester I took 2 classes.
One for a grade & one pass/fail. When I got sick I had to put thewm on hold so I just turned in the coursework.
I passed one & got a B in the other.

Once you get going and discover how easy school actually is, you'll be amazed.

At least, that's how I'm feeling about grad school, now that I've started back.

Good luck!

Mmmmmmmm. I forsee great paper mutual pity sessions in our near future, why yes I do. I also forsee bets on those papers wherein one writes fic or gets someone else to write fic and the other does their paper for them as proper reward, mmmmmmm.

*nods wisely* Matbe not so much the latter but most assuredly the former.

In other words, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Congrats! Don't worry, you'll get acclimated pretty quickly. When I went back to school to do pre-med classes, I hadn't had a math or science class for about about 8 years. I couldn't figure out my first chemistry assignment to save my life. I almost burst into tears of frustration. But within a month I though an assignment like that was easy.

What are you getting your degree in?

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2004-05-19 06:33 pm (UTC)
Political science. I'm *so close* dammit.

That is *really* comforting, since I still have my sciences to finish. *g* I put them off for last.

You will do just fine. You have wonderful writing skills and all you need is to get into the routine of writing for classes. Believe me, I went back to school and got my masters after a break of 20 years. Just keep taking deep breathes. Everything will work out.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2004-05-19 09:29 pm (UTC)
*nod* That's comforting. I keep thinking, I havent' been in a college class in *years*. *shivers*

Thanks! *hugs*

Congratulations, and yes, it *is* good news! I can also say, after having read some of your fics, that you'll have NO problem whatsoever with the papers once you get back into the swing of things. I agree with the person who basically said that you're miles ahead of most college seniors on the literacy front. Trust me on this, I'm a teacher. I know these things. *wink*

Just went back to school, myself (at almost 30). The one thing I can say is that I'm soooo much more prepared than I was at 18. Light years difference. I love it, and you will, too. You're simply to curious a person not to love the classroom. Good luck! And use this as an exuse to buy school clothes again. :)
