Dear Twitter,

After multiple emails, I get it. Hacked. Compromised. Salted password (seriously? Salted? All the slang in the universe and salted made the cut? Like steak?). I have changed it. I even closed my eyes so I couldn't see it myself. That should work, right?

"Salted" is actually an industry-standard term in cryptograpy. Short version: they take your password plus some other string (the salt) and use that to get the cryptographic hash of your password. The 'salt' is not publicised, and possibly rotating, so figuring out the method used to get one password does not necessarily help crack others. Think "Salting the earth".
