AT&T Reportedly Blocking 4chan at techcrunch (and links to other places).

Reportedly. I'm just going to say if this is true...well. Wow. This will end in tragedy and a lot of terrifying macros. Anyone using AT&T able to confirm? Before the looting starts in the internetz streets and we are all surfing at 56K speeds due to mass rebellion?

More at Encyclopedia Dramatica and I don't need to say NSFW.

....seriously. Who thought this was a good idea?

ETA: /b/ is the board being most affected. This may not pply to all of the chans.

ETA 2:See ED article for updated info on AT&T's statement and the lowering of the block (probably).

4chan is loading on my AT&T phone...

ED reports it doesn't affect mobile users.

How very strange O__o

Wow. I thought it was going to be hard to beat the stupidity of AmazonFail, but congratulations, AT&T, y'all just beat them hands down.

Seriously? They're going to try and take on the guys who weren't afraid to go head to head with the Scientology whackjobs? Really?

No, this was not a cunning plan. Or like, y'know, sane.

Someone else on my flist posted about this with a link to the ED article and with a macro of Thriller!Michael Jackson eating popcorn enthusiastically.

I'm pretty much there. Because oh, this should be good. And by good, I mean a total trainwreck.

Doesn't an ISP need some legal reason to censor the internet for its customers? I mean, afaik here ISPs block some sites because of government intervention (iirc mostly due to their anti-childporn initiative) and that's already contorversial, but ISPs blocking sites nilly-willy just because they like to seems rather unjustified.

My reaction to this is to break down in hysterical laughter. Someone doesn't have a clue who they're dealing with.

Srsly. Do not wake up the sleeping b's. I could swear that's classed with Godwin as an internet rule.

4chan? See, is it actually "chan"? or just an unfortunate name? Why are they blocking it?

Wow. I guess the folks at AT&T probably also enjoy taunting grizzly bears in their spare time?

Icon represents my initial reaction.

Secondary reaction is that this will resemble a zombie movie- the humans (AT&T) will fight and flail but the zombies (4chan) will be relentless and numerous. Gore will abound. I expect much entertainment; anybody want popcorn? ::makes hugemongous bowl::

I'd mention this to my mother as further evidence of AT&T fail (part of an ongoing series on, "This U-Verse internet really is shitty, isn't it?") except that then she'd ask me what 4chan is and I don't think I could explain very well.
