pointed griping

Still wallowing in excessive obsession. Also, LJ is being a bitch and fucking with me when I try to answer comments, which is so very not amusing. Of course, IT's been screwing with me as well in uploading, so I should totally not be surprised.

[livejournal.com profile] gem225, they came yesterday! Buried in all kinds of goodness. Happy. Also-*Squee*! THank you for the music! *hugshugshugs* You. Are. So. Cool. Thank you so much. *hugs*

Okay, so used recs and did recs from recs, am still sorting through comments in my LJ for interesting stuff, and you know, google is next and that's like the last bastion of hope when all is lost. Statistically speaking, I have been promised the ninety-five percent rule, so somewhere, there's five percent of fic that is hiding or something.

That's probably unfair. Actually, found several stories I liked--or I hallucinated at any rate, since I can't find the damn place I read them. One of those times I wish I didn't dump my history folder so often. Which I am changing now.

a.) Brian mpreg. I don't even have words. There shouldn't BE words. Hell, the alphabet itself has been polluted. Makes me want to change languages. Would Cyrillic do this to Brian? I haven't shuddered so much since trying that skinny-dipping in a frozen lake thing. Which, by the way, was at least fun, with a headrush you wouldn't believe. Whereas this is a sign of the Apocalypse.

b.) Ellipse abuse. At a level that's unreal. It's not that I don't like ellipses--I do. Like commas and random italics, I have a thing for them. But there's using them and then there's making them grovel while they call you daddy, okay? Don't do that to the ellipses.

c.) One more pet name and something's going to give. Don't get me wrong, I can see them. I can. Except when they are EVERY OTHER FUCKING WORD.

d.) I don't like Michael. But he is not Satan. I wish I could get more energetic about this one, but honestly, can't. Michael spends a curious amount of time annoying me. It's like Clark all over again, except whinier. God, Clark, I owe you. I didn't think anyone could outdo you in sheer self-righteous whininess, but man, you are so outclassed. Not always. He has his moments. I just wish he'd have them without a chaser of 'put him out of his misery'.

And also? Email of the week.

Just thought i'd let you know some of your links dont work. Some of the story's and i couldn't get to the link back page either.

Kindly get your mind out of the Middle Ages and remember what century you're in.

Imagine how little I care.

I'm going to go drown in porn. Anyone have QaF recs, do post them. I grovel on command, as all well know.

I had to have Liv explain the middle age comment to me. Somehow, it just loses it's edge when you can't figure out how they're trying to be rude. Go figure.

Something about bad HTML coding, though I'm not clear on usage. So definitely supposed to be gripey.

Heh.

I think my sense of humor could be broken. I shall mull this while taking a moment to rewatch the first episode. Maybe the third one, too.

Here's a little PWP vingette that I've always liked. Deanna Zankich's Dirty Dance. The summary she posted is "Emmett gets an eyeful as Brian gets his needs met".

For other stories what do you like particularly? I think I've read almost all (good, bad or indifferent) of the QAF US stories. Most of the authors anyway. Are you looking for porn (I know, always *g*), romance, bondage????? Let me know and I'll try to direct you to specific stories/authors.

I've just finished season 1 QAF and haven't read any fic yet. Do you have any good recs for Brian/Justin relationship fic with bits of porny godness? The Smallville fandom seems to have a lot of these. I would classify it as 'romance' except I don't think I could deal with Brian acting too sappy.

From: [identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com Date: 2003-07-20 12:37 pm (UTC)
Got to that one. Liked it.

I want readable. At this poitn, I won't even ask extraordinary, just readable. Brian/Justin, of course, since I spend quality time wanting to muzzle Michael. He's so cute. And talks way too much. *grins*

Most of the QAF out there is either episodic or just plain epic.

Paul Plesko writes one of the most powerful Brian's I've come across. Scroll down to No Such Thing as Enough, for the gap-filler to end all gap-fillers for episode 101!

Hollyilex writes standalones

Myrna's If You Needed Me is a wonderful romance, written from progressive points of view. I've read this one at least 3 times.

Severina, relatively new to the scene is writing season 3, both standalone and gap-fillers at Here and Now

Mesa's written a multi-chapter D/S story. Post season 2, go here for No Regrets

Erin Griffin's been writing in the fandom all along. She has stories from all three seasons, plus her Kane series. She got two new stories going now, 21 and Where There's Heat at Mercury Rising

Rizabeau had never written *anything* before she started writing QAF. It's difficult to believe. They're romantic, and make you feel deeply for Brian and Justin. They are loooonng, stories, she doesn't seem to write any short. Her work is posted at ATP, as she does not have a website. New Year and Spring Fever; Caprice and Ritorna a Me'; Jingle All The Way, and her newest Songs in the Key of Love. Songs printed out at 639 pages in Word format, but well worth the effort. Rizabeau

Lisa Gray has a multi-chapter WIP, Tarot Series. She posts regularly, but not often.

I'll think about it, and post more direct links as I can.

hmmmm. let's see what else I can come up with.

Lane Carson's stories are good, but she's had RL issues for a long time and hasn't posted anything new in forever. What I Want is her website. Holding On To Let You Go is unfinished, but there's plenty else there to enjoy.

Miss Miko's saga is AU, and gets somewhat sappy, but was enjoyable nonetheless. Her stuff is found at Heels over Head.

Trisky wrote a post season 2 AU, wherein the time frame alternates between Present and Future, centering around Justin's 21st birthday. Color Series. She's started a new series for season3 and is 3 stories in to it.

Deanna Zankich, who wrote Dirty Dance, houses her fic now at What Love Means. Deanna

Gael's AU, Queer Theories, has captured me. She's currently at chapter 116. Brian and Justin do Hollywood. *g*. Actually, it presents a thoroughly envisioned drama detailing Brian's troubled past, and rise to stardom in both Hollywood and London. Queer Theories

Morpheus has fic spanning all three seasons at her site. Links to all pages can be found at the home page for Trading Spaces, her new series.

Randall's series have been well worth the read, Randall's Rambles.

Archives I've bookmarked:

Across the Pond (ATP). The search engine is not as great as SSA, but Calysta and crew have plans for improvement. (it's a newer site).

Ardra's QAF Fanfiction Forum has the ability to "watch topics". I have the fanfiction forum set to notify when there are additions. It is NOT a chatty forum, it's mainly to post author website updates. So far there are threads for Severina, Randall, Paul Plesko, Ethan, Gael's QTheories, and a General link for misc anyone else we want to link to. There's also a thread for website links.

What Love Means hosts fiction for Deanna Zankich and Trisky, as well as critical commentary for various other authors (some great, some not so). Leah and Reboot have done wonders with the site. Their "Critics Corner Commentary" of season 3 episodes is great. Various authors give sometimes hilarious overviews of the episodes. There are also recaps, author Q&A, artwork and links.

Pfyre has lot's of links to lot's of different sites, both US and UK, at Pfyre's Place, including links to actor's webpages. I think she's still doing screencaps, but haven't kept up on it.

And of course, Mia JT & Lydia Beloved's site, Too Lunatic's & Won. Their Brian and Justin videos are *wonderful*. I know I linked to this in another thread, but thought I'd include it here with the other archives.

Season 3 episode clips by Andrea/Sandstorm are archived here. They're mostly Brian/Justin centric, and are not in any order. If any of you out there know how to share a Windows Media Player playlist, let me know, as I have them all in order and set to play one after the other.

The MoonShadow Tribe, is a collection of authors, many of whom post on BJFic, one of the yahoo lists. The quality here is spotty. A lot of the stories are multi-chapter, with little or no beta reading done. My guilty pleasure here is Else Rose's AU stories. They're over the top, mushy romances, but I enjoy them immensely anyway.

Think these two posts will be enough to occupy you for awhile? Let me know your favorites, I'd love to chat about them with you. The QAF contingent on LJ is barely there, and I've been dying to squee with like-minded others.

I've never seen season 2 either, nor any more of season 3 than from the clips on Andrea's site. After reading so many stories though, I have a pretty good idea of what happened.

Maybe check out the episode recaps that are available. Last time I checked season 2 wasn't in a Blockbuster yet.

I read all the recaps on Showtime's website so I get the general idea of what's going on. I'm just a very visual person and like to see it all for myself. Ahem. Unfortunately I believe those videos are in windows media viewer and I'm on a mac. *grumble microsoft grumble* I'm a patient person. Good porn comes to those who wait : )

Thanks. I think I found windows media player for Mac, even though it's blasphemous. I'll let you know if it doesn't work. Dawn that Brian! Making me put Microsoft programs on my Mac. Also, I had called around to all the Blockbusters in my area and apparently the city (Chicago) stores get first dibs on season 2 and the suburban stores near me have to wait their turn.

I think I watched the first season about five times through. Certain scenes more than that. Like the King of Babylon dance.

Ooh yeah. *grins* The King of Babylon dance. The end of episode two. Anytime they have sex. Yep. I'm predictable. And that is totally okay.

And I won't even remark on how much I've been watching those videos. because it would be sick. Sick and wrong. And so good.

I'd seen Maleficient's mpreg, a crossover with The Kindred in which Brian is a Vampire lord and Justin his consort. Magic of course being utilised to impregnate our drama princess.

But I've not seen the Brian mpreg. Don't think I'll go there.

I don't read QaF fic, but I do watch the show, and I found the SV/QaF cross-over, Queer as Folk I & II to be both hot and with excellent characterization. I nom'd it in the treasury or you can find it on SSA.
