From:It's all about the *voice.* I have read so many fics in this fandom where the narrative voice has turned me off, either because it was a John pov where he spent half his time adoring Rodney is what felt to me like a fan-contrived fashion or a Rodney pov which, while focused on John, just showed me how much I normally *don't* empathize with this character.
*You* however have changed that. I came over here to your journal by way of ship recs, and I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised. In both this fic and your collaboration, "Synchronicity," you've crafted a Rodney voice that I can actually beat in time with. He's not snarkfully perfect or wallowing in the "fall before he realizes his perfection." Instead, he's actually seeing and noting the people around him, giving those perceptions a bit of genius-enhanced insight that I for once find wise rather than arrogant, blunt rather than some falsely-ringing "courageous honesty." And because of this, I'm able to concentrate on his views of Elizabeth, John, and Teyla, without feeling like I'm being pulled kicking and screaming into the author's fanonical stance on the character and having my sense of disbelief knocked around time and time again.
In short, it sounds to me like you truly took the time to develop your own understanding of the characters, their appearances, and their voices, rather then just inserting the popular fanon. As a result, your voice is more believable and realistic than most, and sucked me into the story in a way that I had despaired of never finding in this fandom.
