Recs!

Butoh, Dance of Darkness by mobiusklein. I have no idea what the crossover is, but frankly, not sure I care. The creep factor here is enormous, and the twist completely unexpected. AU indeed. And chilling as hell. Run, don't walk.

Ceremony of Innocence by [livejournal.com profile] rivkat Rivka does things with ubercomplex Lexes that always surprise me and always work. As a post-Visitor story, it clarifies everything we think we know about Lex and tells us things we may not. Clark's very Clark, but Lex is painfully Lex, with every dichotomy and every obsession. Read it.

Room 29 by gila. Clark wanders off. Lex goes after. I never, ever get tired of these stories. *G*

First Times by [livejournal.com profile] spyhop Oh HELL yes. Clark's first times, one and two. Here be het, but deal, because seriously good and hot story of Clexness as well here. Loved it.

Macellum by Sylvia. Mmm. Hard AU. Brothersfic. Luthor powergames. And I dearly love it. Run with it.

Genesis by [livejournal.com profile] harriet_spy Whoa doggies. Science and obsession and Helen. And fits so flawlessly into canon that, wow, doesn't THIS explain a few things about Helex.

Into the Woods by [livejournal.com profile] rivkat Oddly, there's no way I can begin to explain WHAT about this one haunted me. But like any good fairy tale before Disney, it leaves the creep and forgets the happy ending.

Futura by [livejournal.com profile] rosenho Mmm. Elseworldy goodness. To get it, just read it, but mmmm. Hope manages the hardest thing--keeping two characters AS the characters while changing every other damn thing. Very good.

Recs Redux. In other words, my way of reminding myself to update my recs on my page more than once ever blue-colored moon or so. And because I love these stories and think they should be read regularly. Every day, even.

Yes, I'm still gripey, but I'm PRODUCTIVELY gripey!
recs redux, the angst collection )
I've been meaning to start putting up some of the Very Long Feedback I've sent authors, since these work very well as recs and also save me much in the way of time. So. As I get time to look, I'll put them up for fun, and also, makes it easier to update my recs page with actual reasoning on why I like a story.

To refresh memories, Past Grief was posted over a year ago, to a really stunned fandom. Think dropping a small asteroid into a really quiet pond and the ripples in some ways simply haven't stopped. The debates over the characterizations, the plotline, and the choice of material were huge and fascinating to everyone who followed them, and I followed pretty obsessively. As a massive influence on the fandom (A Handful of Dust can be considered almost a homage, considering I took the religious themes I saw in Past Grief and played with them quite mercilessly), it also influenced later characterizations of Clark, being a kind of grandparent to the ultradark apocalyptic angstfics that began to surface soon after its release. The themes of absolute, destructive, and really relentless love have been picked up by many and mmm. Yes.

More or less, the text sent to Te in late March of last year. I've edited for typos. When I say this story hit me between the eyes and has never moved from its place in my head? I'm seriously not kidding. You people should have seen me for the month after reading it--total inability to think of anything else.
past grief, feedback and review )
As can probably be told, I am Very Bored. So I went to write something, ended up with four pages that make no sense but are pretty and involve--well, I'm not sure. *scratches head*

So. I went through and took a page from [livejournal.com profile] prufrock's book and listed out my active WiPs.

In Beta, Being Edited, or Being Ignored While Complete

Somewhere I Have Never Travelled -- one day. One day I shall officialy finish and post this.

Gladly Beyond -- same holds true for this one. Damn story.

Five Very Good Reasons Not to Date Luthors - seen in LJ. Sits on my hard drive and I keep forgetting about it. Gah.

Four Places -- needs editing, then posting.

Only Human -- there's just something wrong with it and until I know what, this sucker will not see the light of day.

Active-Active, or, things I have worked on in the last two weeks

ClexBizarreBrothersFic - snippets of it have been posted here. It's bizarre. They're brothers. And considering [livejournal.com profile] blackfall was getting vaguely uncomfortable with the subject matter, I'm beginning to wonder if I need to take a step back from it. I don't know. Hmm. The pure glee I get out of seriously fucking with these characters COULD be blinding me to that elusive thing known as good taste.

Rising -- Somewhere prequel. It mocks me a lot. Like I think I can write redemptionfic. Bah, I say! But. Well. Hmm.

Arkhamfic -- cowrite with [livejournal.com profile] devinmoonshine, it moves apace and nicely. We're pleased. And kinda creeped. All par for the course.

A Separate Peace -- you know, part three is being bratty.

Two Paths #6 -- same with this one.

Pretty When You're Mine -- hooker!Clark AU. It's growing nicely. I'd like it more if they'd just fall into bed already and save me some stess, but they just--do that thing. With the looks. And the confusion. And the--you know, that thing they do.

Threaded Through It All -- it's--you ever get just the image and concept of a single scene and you know, it's probably an unimportant scene, but it just. Takes over? I wrote it out to flush it, and instead, now wonder what I can do with it. If I even want to. Hmm.

Untitled Cowrite with [livejournal.com profile] tstar78 -- chica, send me the text someday.... *significant look*

Last Men -- I actually reopened this to work on recently, since I'd brought it up in chat that it was part of the graveyard in my harddrive of Really Cool Ideas That Didn't Gel. I think the problem is the scope--I work on a short-term canvas, and Last Men in current form is Very Damn Long Term. But well. Invading aliens? Seriously, this is FUN stuff. Mmmm.

Must mull.

And God, I wish I'd got some Cadbury Creme Eggs. Must find way to assault small children for them tomorrow.
