Quickie thanks to [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn and the entirety of chat last night for, you know, general niceness.

Okay, now shall catch up on friends list. *breathes* I can do this. I can do this.

I made chocolate chip chocolate cookie bars, btw. VERY good. Chocolate and sugar shock commencing nicely. *g*

Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] sparcck:

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

More. Much more, with a pull toward longer fic that I've never really had this much of a thing for before.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2002?

1.)Lex Luthor/Pete Ross. Still unfinished, but I'm still thrown I even began it.

2.)Spiderman crossover, though since that's not posted yet, techically, it'll fall into next year's category, since I'm still editing. First, crossover. Never thought I'd do it. Second, slash crossover. See first. Third, Spiderman period. It hit me very oddly.

What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.

None. All. It's hard. It's a mood thing. But today, In a Yellow Wood, because being able to openly AU from Vortex was incredible fun. And still is.

Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?

Lex/Pete -- that it was even possible. I'm not convinced, but I do mean to finish the story just to see how it turns out.

Lex/Chloe -- I did it for Vic's birthdayfic. I'm still not happy with it. Short of killing the characters involved, I have never written anything so depressing. It depresses me just to look at it.

Risks. Hmm. Besides equating snuggling with body art? *grins* I don't know. I think the riskiest thing I've done is the serial I'm doing right now. Originally, I wasn't going to write it like this, but it's turned out rather good for my self-disclipline--so much covered a day, balancing between character and plot, developing new or OC characters and worldbuilding at the same time. Making me work and not slack off, which I tend to do. It's requiring more focus and more effort and a LOT of attention to detail because I'm posting first drafts, so it has to be right the first time. I can't go back and say, right, I left THIS out of section three, which is necessary to understand section eleven coming up. So far, I haven't painted myself into a corner, and I am taking a LOT of relief from that.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

Finish Human!Clark. Finish Something Like Forgetting. Finish Seventy-Two Hours. Maul Isi until she gives me more Two Paths fic. Write and finish one full novel, though Jus is technically finished, I didn't plan originally on not including the epilogue, so I'm not sure it counts.

And maybe consider finishing something original and trying to do something with it, though God knows what.

Hmm. That enough? *g*

Recs:

Quick insta-rec, because this so much rocks.

That Old Schizophrenic Jealousy by Lenore. The way second person pov can be flawless and fabulous. This is so good I've read it four times already. WONDERFUL Clark. Just absolutely great, funny, HOT. Read it now.

More later. Back to self-discipline and cookie bars and coffee. And planning for New Years. Because People will be over here. I will deal beautifully. *grins and hugs everyone*
Because I've been neglectful as hell.

Exchange by [livejournal.com profile] bonibaru. Okay, where the HELL has she been hiding? Totally fooling everyone with the vid-only thing--she can WRITE too! Lovely, LOVELY Lex I could read about all day. Run along and read.

The Color For Her by [livejournal.com profile] penelope_z. Mmm. Lana pov CLex. Hot. Sticky. Haunting. And wow.

It Takes a Village to Make a Superhero Look Good by mobiusklein. Hee! Beverage warning please! Hee! How Clark gets his costume! So many good lines I can't even pick one.

It's Cold Outside by [livejournal.com profile] bexless. Sweet, funny, CLex, and VERY strange old lady. *grins* Read read read.

Suddenly, Mrs. Devon reached up and ran her hand over Lex's head. Lex, to his credit, only flinched a little, and gave the tiniest grimace as she examined his scalp.

Then she swooped in to Clark and whispered conspiratorially, "He's very shiny, dear. Do you polish him?"

Yes. Like THAT! *eg*

On the Eighth of December by alee. Clark's a superhero, with everything that happens with that. *sighs* He's going to have nights like this, and alee does a lovely job showing it.

Okay, to make this less pointless.

I've been mulling thoughts about LJ, community in fandom, responsibility, et al, but they refuse to come together with anything resembling logic. I'm curious though--whatever your fandom, do you see it as a community, in which you are part of a greater whole, or more of a every writer is an island sort of thing?

Oddly, I'm not sure where I stand on this either. In Voyager, Island, in XMM, clique-communityish, but SV seems like both sometimes, to me. Or neither. It's very--jangly.

See? No logical progression going on. My English prof would be ever so ashamed of me.

Must mull.
