And they really thought about how to represent the powerful groups and specifically, those that depend on or use spice for more than just health and longevity and how they're different. While I'm not a huge fan of the Bene Gesserit Reverend Mothers being bald for no reason, it really worked to mark them as different (due to spice) and using the pattern of a nun's habit for their outfits worked incredibly well to visually mark them as an order of powerful (and terrifying) women. The Space Guild was just as unsettlingly alien as they should be and the Navigators were frightening as a product of spice + fast human evolution.
Like, they thought about how to convey power and distinction for the various group vying for power in the Empire, they thought about scale and how to convey it.
The miniseries did the storyline much better, but it never stopped feelign too small. And seriosusly, we visually mark Bene Gesserit with hats????????
