yeah, I think so.
Kindle Fire HD 8.9 4G Tablet
Whoo-boy.
Adding: Kindle ebook reader also upgrading, though I wonder about the white background. I am kind of partial to the grey.

I mean I found an app to do collections with, but it's not the same as native application.
I've been scanning the news, but haven't seen any actual upgrades to the reading app to include collections, have you spotted anything about that?

(Unfortunately for my pocket book, I'll be replacing my main laptop next month, as the product on which I work, which shall remain nameless for nearly-plausible deniability, hits general availability, so justifying the new Kindles becomes harder. Except the Paperwhite. I have misplaced my Touch. Clearly, this means I need to replace it. Yes. Even though I misplaced it in the house. And will no doubt find it when I clean up.)

I'm trying to find out if the 3G on the new Kindle is like what they put on the touch where it only works for Amazon and Wiki, otherwise you need wifi anyway.
Lol! Such a dilemma!

Anyway. Not looking forward to the prospect of getting a new one and having to retag everything I've got on the current one when I load it all to a new one. But the old one will wear out and then I'll have to. And I'm charmed by a backlighting feature, since that's the one big thing the phone app has over the physical Kindle -- being able to lie in bed reading in the dark until I fall asleep without risking spending the night sleeping with the lights on because I didn't shut them off and set the Kindle aside in time. (The other big advantage to the phone app is being able to read it with my glasses off, which is damned useful when I'm deliberately reading until I fall asleep and don't want to risk sleeping in my glasses. Don't think I can pull that off with a full-sized Kindle, backlit or not.)

I had the lighted cover. Since it was powered by the battery, it wnet off when the Kindle timed out. But I do like the backlit feature like a lot in the pics, it looks non-irritating and easy all over, and apparently you can turn it off and get the pale grey background, which I admit I've grown to like.
The tablet I'm debating. I want it for its awesome and 59 for a year of 250 month 4G, and the bluetooth means I can add a decent sized keyboard for writing, while my current tablet keyboard is netbook size. But no access to the Google Play store or APK only, not so much, so it may go Galaxy after all, since Child really wants mine for school.

FYI. I don't know if you will agree with them, but it's something to think about.
Good luck!

I am almost happy my Kindle keyboard broke now, hate to say it, because I love it like a lot, but God, the backlight, if it's not irritating, seems like such a great idea.

An kindle fire looks so good, can you get BBC shows on there? or download pirated shows?

Whenever I see the brilliant Paperwhite screen, I just have to remind myself that my T1 has:
- page turn buttons right where a thumb can reach (one handed reading, yay subway)
- category support, both in calibre AND bulk edit on device, which is frankly a miracle
- format support (and thank you calibre / apprenticealf for the awz3 -> epub conversion)
- page numbers (::eyerolling forever:: Really AMZ? really?)
- SD card (for my headphones/reading music)
- my own screensaver images (my dog, yes I am shallow)
I can live with a slight delay to my reading gratification since any AMZ books need to be de-DRMed for my T1, but eh, there is also a million fanfics so yay!

I also would love more space and the camera option. I've never been one to upgrade to the new thing, because there are always new things and I am still perfectly happy with my Kindle Keyboard. The Fire HD just looks so tempting and I've absolutely loved my experience with Amazon and the Fire.
