svreview: accelerate, s2e21 (WAS what was this ep called again?)

Okay. I think I just watched the prequel to Lanning's Divergence. But of far, far lower quality. And far less interesting.

But.

There's no possible way to cover this one without a long yawn. So I won't even try.

Well. There were some bright spots.

I like evil children when they attack people I don't like. I cheer for them.

I like Lex. Period. So there's that.

It was nice to watch Lana almost drown. Depressing when she didn't. Lana, honey, remember my warning from last week? Check LJland. An AU has just been born. And many of us will really, really enjoy it. If someone will write it.

And week two of Everyone Loves Lana continues to make Smallville the most boring show in existence.

Clark continues to make me wish he'd just go evil and go away. I'm sorry, Clark. In fanfic, I like you. On the show, you make me want to have you forced to watch professional knitting shows for days on end. No commercial breaks. Then watch flies fuck. Because I can think of no punishment worse for you than that after making me watch CENTURIES (stuffed in an hour) of Lana and you being so boring that I actually had time to grow my OWN clone if I had the equipment.

But the plot, which no shock, turned out pretty damn cool.

Again, though--looked at lab, and first thought was, he's going to make a Karloff. He is *so* going to make a Karloff. Anyone else? Seriously, I was waiting for him to ask L'il Emily if she wanted a brother to play with. Because I can totally see this.

Find [livejournal.com profile] rosenho or [livejournal.com profile] latxcvi or [livejournal.com profile] thamiris for more thorough commentary. I'll try some later after, I don't know, READING THE FANFIC THIS IS SO MUCH LIKE MAYBE?

*sighs*

I swear, I'll find positive points later. I will. I really, really will. After I've gotten back my will to live.

Well of *course* he's going to make a Karloff. Emily was just the final clinical trial!

Ooh yeah. *nodnodnod*

*imagines the fanfic*

Oh yes. I agree 100%.

*grins* They're trying to take our fanfic!

*sighs sadly* If only they'd go after the slash more as well....

Dood, my whole reason for liking this ep?

the fact that it totally supports "The Sixth Hour" and makes me wanna write a sequel.

It's so sad when the by-the-numbers A-plot excites me more than anything else, i think. But I cannot help it. I went in expecting to get made canon fodder, and instead? Totally worked with me. I was so pleased.

(Dood, Emily and Judith together would have scared me muchly. Clones who impale people, next on Oprah! And inside my head? Lionel resurrected Level 3 and gave Daddy this project because of Judith)

*grins at Tara* Go for it! Now nownow! GOOD story.

*waits* WEll, what are you waiting for?

jenn, very pushy

Could be a lot of fun if Lionel's got Miranda under glass someplace...

It just goes to show that, even as a child, Lana dragged others with her to the depths of despair.

I figured the kid was probably the ghost of some girl whose life Lana stole, however inadvertently, and lo and behold, she was.

I thought the clone was Lil' Lex at first.

Still don't like the sheriff. She's annoying.

Why is Clark so suspicious of Lex? Have I missed something in the show? Or are the writers simply writing him as half-hostile to increase tension? It's just annoying.

My first thought during Lana's tearfully pleading monologue on the bridge was, "Honey, I wouldn't trust you to save me from a hangnail."

And "Yay!" when Emily shoved her. And "Eh?" when the Lana mannequin just sort of lay there at the bottom of this fast-moving river.

Liked Lionel very much - "the specimen", "She belongs to LuthorCorp." Made me think of Clark in Koi's Mercy.

Did you expect for Emily to crack the bunny's neck? I did.

Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one!

*snickers* Yep.

Because it is Useful to the Plot. Screw it if it makes no character sense whatsoever.

And "Yay!" when Emily shoved her. And "Eh?" when the Lana mannequin just sort of lay there at the bottom of this fast-moving river.

Yes, what was UP with that one? People FLOAT. *shakes head*

Yep. Totally.

Did you expect for Emily to crack the bunny's neck? I did.

Yes and double yes. She had that animal-killing-vibe. *Shviers* Poor bunnies.

I seriously almost yelled, "Omigod! It's 'Divergence'!" Except I had non-slash-reading friends over and they would have asked for an explanation.

And someone needs to disabuse M&G of this idea that Lana is an interesting character. Like, now.

[identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com 2003-05-09 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
When they get over being in love with her.....

*growls*

It's like Seven of Nine in Voyager ALL over again, except withotu the catsuit. Thank you God for no catsuit. *shivers*

This was exactly my reaction to the episode.

Except I laughed the laugh of the slightly insane when they went so far as to try to give life to the Clana by using the pilot's Clex meeting scene.

'Cept it wasn't nearly as long, interesting - or desired.

Someone needs to explain to Clark that Lana would be better off with her parents. *g*

[identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com 2003-05-09 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
*eg*

Well, as LaT said--um, boys, are you TRYING to canonize the slash here? Because apparently, you, TOO, think it was pretty romantic. *grins*

Yes I was completely thinking of divergence all the way through this ep! And I thought the clone looked like it might have been little lex too! I just can't decide whether this is a good or bad thing. I'm leaning towards good... At least the plots interesting, and the end was highly creepy.

[identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com 2003-05-09 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
*nod* A REALLY cool plotline, totally. *sighs* If only the characters hadn't interfered. Damn them.

[identity profile] siobhan-w.livejournal.com 2003-05-06 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
How's this for positive - Clark goes evil and uses the clone lab to make his own harem of Lex sex slaves. In the meantime, Lionel sits down to a tea party with Lana and she is so freaked out that she immediately faints dead away and disappears for the rest of the episode.

Yeah, I know it's completely AU but at least I can thank the episode for the ideas, right? *g*

[identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com 2003-05-09 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Mmmmm.....Lex-harem.

*drifts off*

Right, right. Back. Mmm. Lex-harem....

*drifts off again*

you make me want to have you forced to watch professional knitting shows for days on end

ROTFL!!

RE: the cloning. I want him to make a Lillian clone and then Lex meets her providing much delicious angst. *g*

Oh damn. Now ther'es something I can see Lionel totally doing. Jesus. *shudders*

I too made the "Divergence" comment in my review. Are they ripping off ficcers now? Why don't they take ALL the good stuff? *Sigh*

[identity profile] seperis.livejournal.com 2003-05-09 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Add the slash in! Please!

And yes, I can totally fantasize about that ALL day.
