crossposting: not so much with the posting part

Okay, so....

When did crossposting to LJ stop working exactly? As I just realized that my last entry didn't, and then I tried again and it didn't, then I checked my flist and the last time anyone's crosspost went through that I can see is July 24th circa 10:00 PM CST.

I was going to ask why it stopped working but apparently LJ was downish for a bit, so. This is weird. Anyone?

Manual crosspost to LJ as soon as this is posted.

This is a manual crosspost: Entry at LJ.

I've got a post from [personal profile] giandujakiss on my droll indicating that she still can't post to LJ, so it's not just you.

My wild-assed suspicion is that they've been hit by a DDoS and aren't accepting client traffic (or anything similar) to limit the load so the site can at least serve pages. I have no proof of this, as I couldn't find much of any information on the outage (status.livejournal.org indicated only that they were aware of and working on site loading problems, last I checked). But if you're being able to post manually through the web-site but not cross-post, it's at least a plausible explanation of the downtime.

Alternatively, their data center may have caught fire, who even knows.

From what I've been hearing (not anything straight from source, just secondhand stuff), it's a data center outage. If LJ isn't up to the crossposter at the time of crosspost, the crosspost will fail.

So, it did catch fire. Well, you know, I guess I was close? *g*

Life is so unpleasant when you suddenly find yourself in an Anouilh play.
