okay, really, this has become disturbing

I didn't think anything could preempt in my heart the one hundred cases! of hotdog flu that were announced, but lo.

Specter Bats For the Other Team! which is a euphemistically filthy way of speaking of a Republican converting to the Democrats.

...okay, granted, this is not technically on the Apocalypse To Do List. I'm just saying, maybe it should have been.

Anyone seen any--say, rapturing? Just run and check around your offices, please. Just to make sure. I'll wait.

You know, the possibility of a retroactive revision of the Apocalypse To Do List would never have occurred to me, but you're clearly right that it may be called for.

Steele said in a written statement. "Let's be honest --Sen. Specter didn't leave the GOP based on principles of any kind. He left to further his personal political interests because he knew that he was going to lose a Republican primary due to his left-wing voting record."

Which voting record was a sign of...him...voting on principle? Rather than with his party? Or am I missing something here? Is is just that "left-wing" automatically precludes "principles"?

Does regular alien abduction count as a mini-rapture?

I just got online and my mind BOGGLED when I read that on my home page! Plagues of locusts may be next.

Wow, Republicans, sore losers much?

No raptures in Western MA. Just very hot and draggy Yankees. I'm pretty sure they think they are in hell.

My state has several cases of the flu.... take from it what you will.

Arlen Specter changed sides. :O Wow. I guess he was Republican in name only. Of course we have some Democrats in name only, too, Liebermann from Connecticut comes to mind so it all balances out in the wash.

Does this mean the Senate now has a supermajority?

"I know I'm disappointing many of my colleagues," he said at a news conference. "The disappointment runs in both directions.
I can't help but go :D :D :D over that. *terrible person*

You may be onto something - curious to see what the portents of the neo-apocalypse-now-rapture are. I've been using the lyrics to the Blondie song as a guide for past few years (though ineligible, I would like to get a good seat), keeping an eye out Fab Five Freddie, but to no avail.

And at 79, Sen. Specter may have some inside information.

I think it just hit 50 degrees in Chicago - suspicious.

Uh, not unless we've all been left behind.

And really, what with all the gay porn, we probably should have seen that coming.

YUP. Offices deserted.
Oh, wait. There's a teleconference in the conference room. Do I burst in to make sure all are accounted for, or wait patiently to see if I'm the only one left? *clutches pearls*

Oh help me ceiling cat, help me.

OMG, Specter?! That's just wild. At first I thought you were joking. Wow.

[identity profile] yarnaddict.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, no rapturing here, unless you count that guy on the sidewalk in front of our office building, but I think he's on something chemical, not something religious.

Hope that helps to calm your fears, at least a little bit...

This is how I know I'm not awake. I read that as 'Specter Bats' for the Other Team. Making pause and blink at the screen while wondering what in hell were specter bats.

Oh Arlen, dear Arlen. I grew up with Arlen on the local Philly news station. I never liked him until he became middle of the road in comparison to some of his party colleagues. And today...I LOVE ARLEN WELCOME TO THE GANG. No more filibusters. Now, if the Demos can just get something done without tripping over their own butts trying to bite each other's ankles...I will be seeing Jesus.

[identity profile] recarte.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, my Gov teacher told our class about that today. He sort of interrupted my Lit teacher and said, "Class, as of today, Specter has switched to the Democratic Party, creating what may become a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate." It was kind of funny because one of my classmates was really excited while some of the other kids (including me) were all, "Specter who?" Thank you for making me more politically aware, Mr. Z. :D

(Btw, I just wanted to say that I friended you recently and wanted to say hi so that you wouldn't think, "Yo, who's this stranger?" ... Though technically, I guess I'm still a stranger. --;)
