fruit! i bring...fruit!

So I finally discovered the plucot and have found my One True Fruit.

For those, like me, who once stared at the produce aisle in dismay and wondered if someone left something out during kindergarten class when they told us the fruits and vegetables....

Pluots

Okay, everything about the sweetness and deliciousness? Dear God, so true. And very, very juicy.

Next on the list--hunt down and find hybrid cherry plums. I am this close to declaring myself sick and running off to Whole Foods or Central Market to see what's in stock.

...seriously. They didn't *look* that delicious. Yet they totally, totally are. And I only brought one to work! There are four more on the counter at home and anyone, anyone could find and eat them before I get back. I'm worried. Very, very worried.

ETA: Hmm. I see I continue to italicize like tomorrow they will take them away from me. Interesting.

I love your italics, for the record.

Also: The thought of a cherry/plum hybrid makes me dizzy with excitement.

OH GOD PLUOTS.

I tried them a little while ago, and they are indeed awesome. I love that the fruit inside is multiple colors! And my 14-month-old seemed to really love them, too. :)

Around here pluots are called Dinosaur Eggs which goes over well. They are yummy.

There's also an aprium out there -- not that I've seen it this year -- that's labeled "Black Velvet Apricot". It's dark, slightly fuzzy, apricot sized, and about a hundred times sweeter than any apricot. Amazing. They had them at the cafe at work a couple of years ago, and I used to bring them home to DH in little plastic containers.

Hmmm... Looks like I need to make a trip to Whole Foods & check out the fruit section. Thanks for the tip!

Pluots are very very tasty. *nods* Good choice for a one true fruit, even though I can't quite manage to just pick one. (My list of Fruit I Do Not Like is much shorter: cantalope, pears, sweet soft apples; see, pretty much everything else is golden. Or red or blue or green or yellow or otherwise scrumptious.)

I can imagine how much anxiety you must have felt, having discovered the wonder of pluots and then realized the rest of your stash was unguarded and in the open at home.

I don't think I've had cherry plums. Hmmmm....

I blame you.

I would have walked past that damn stand in the Remke grocery store had you not mentioned these fruits. The small purple ones look like grape-shaped plums, and the others... well, they look like pale red plums. The purple ones aren't ripe yet, but the pale red pluots? Oh so good. I find the pulp to be an interesting texture, but the skin? So much better than a plum's skin taste.
