For I am an aunt again!

My middle sister and her husband welcome M, an 11 lb, 8 oz, 22 inch boy (no, you read that right), delivered in the most common epidural way and holy shit, that's a lot of baby.



They induced today and seriously, how much more baby could have happened if they hadn't? She rolled with it--epidural, epidural, epidural--but my God. I'm getting her all the cheesecake tomorrow.



...that, by the way, is over one and a half Child at birth weight.

Ouch! And I speak as one who has produced a 10lb 11oz baby in her time, with the helpful aid of Entonox. (There were twins in the hospital whose combined weight was less than my boy!) One big consolation for the Ouch! is that a big baby is able to go longer between meals, so mum will probably get a better chance at sleep in the next few weeks...

but damn. both my babies were between 7 & 8 lbs, and that was quite large enough, thank you.

My niece was fairly big, in the 9-10lb range as I recall, but damn.

Lilly was 6lbs 8oz, and I was a whopping 5lbs 1oz, so that's just an once more combined than that baby solo.

That is a lot of baby -- and we come from a family of big babies. (9-9.5 pound is me and my brother. Mind you, i managed to astound the nurses by putting on weight in the few days after birth, when i should have been losing it. According to mum, I had dimples for knuckles.)

She deserves all the cheesecake in the state.
