I still recall a fantasy panel at a convention where Jane Yolen discussed having one of her books banned because the title had the word "witch" in it, specifically, and the implication of witchcraft for a children's book was out of bounds. Similarly, I have heard some of the church ladies on transit denouncing the Harry Potter books and declaring their children are never allowed to read them because *any* fantasy book is not allowed, and the topic of witchcraft is completely forbidden.
Yeah, I know, the questions just start bubbling up like yeast, and no, I didn't ask them...
