It seems from various articles that he does both - he is a commercial fisherman (I am unclear about whether he owns her former business or just freelances - I know nothing about fishing) during the summer and her Wikipedia article () (which has been updated extensively since I first read it this morning) says that he works for BP. I know there was another article where they said he did both but...I've read a lot of them this morning and all I know is that it was a link from cnn.com. Might have been ON CNN.com, might have been the link to Time, or a pundit, or who knows what. The other article did say that he works in the fields, though, so that does relieve my ideas that he was an exec making profits off increased oil prices.
Aha, and with a little more research, this article (http://dwb.adn.com/news/politics/story/8924080p-8824177c.html) confirms that he was in a more hands-on position. And that he went on leave when Governor Palin won the gubernatorial election to avoid conflicts of interest. So I gotta give them props for that. (Note to self: Extensive research is your friend!)
