Thank you for the clarification, but I am afraid I did not explain myself properly: I am a long-time user who registered at a time when it was not necessary to enter one's birthdate and who rarely logs in since I use my account to read my flist, not to post. Unfortunately I rarely have anything worthwhile to say and wheenever I have the urge to speak up I generally offend someone, so on the whole I master such reckless impulses.
The whole adult content tag reinforced this habit -of not logging in- since when logged in I was always stopped by the tagged entries whereas when unlogged I could just read such entries after a couple more clicks. Well, not anymore, at least the 18+ entries.
Of course, I could go back and enter an age, any age in my profile, but I like staying anonymous on the internet, and I cannot say that I trust LJ to use any personal information responsibly... Mind you, I've been lying about my age, my name and my location to Yahoo for years, I can most certainly do it for LJ too.
It's more the requirement of logging in to read my flist that I resent, if only because it allows LJ to track my reading/clicking habits
*not becoming paranoid in the least since by now I think we have established that they ARE after us*
