I think as a classroom exercise in a Soc or Anthro class this might make more sense. Perhaps the original was written purposefully all over the place, either to prolong discussion or touch on topics that the class was discussing or some such. As a general meme on LJ, it has no context and seems to be trying to make a point without knowing what that point is.
