There was a little flicker in John's eyes in profile as Rodney was stumbling toward his apology. You can see the internal "whoa, apology," thought cross his face. It's just all so awesome. They both did wonderfully in this episode, but I thought Joe really really did an incredible job. This and the grief scene? That grief scene was right up there with Picard and the flute in "The Inner Light."
