Question--if I want to remove the dvd/cd writer and put in a hard drive there, do I need a caddy or can I just strip out the dvd player from inside it's caddy and use that? I have an old writer that I stripped the chassis off on my Inspiron 6000 and was experimenting with, but people keep saying I need to buy the caddy and I can't figure out why I'd need it.
