Well, MS (Doyle) was a better actor than Bodie, given how they did after the show, and yes, there were comments about that at the time. I wasn't into S&H enough to know, but I think it was a part of the Ray wars in due south -- that Ray V was a worse actor than Ray K.

So yeah. No conclusions, only that 'bad actor' seems to be one of the ways that people justify to themselves about like another character more.
