I have SO MANY FEELINGS for the topic, ON BOTH SIDES.

Cause, the thing is, I kind of hate a lot of the classics but also feel BAD about hating classics. I don't actually see anything wrong with works being derivative as long as they find something new or emotionally resonant in whatever they're taking from. (My problem with the HECK movie is more that all the reviews I read were lukewarm-to-negative enough that I ended up not getting the book, while PERFECTLY GOOD NOVELS are being ignored.)

And, I think we can all agree that the only real way to experience Moby Dick without pain is the version where Patrick Stewart is Ahab.
