My own (somewhat depressing) take is that if they really want to send us to camps (as that man the bus suggested; I kid you not -- California the liberal state still includes the experience of sharing public transit with people will say out loud that all Chinese and Mexicans should be sent to camps), having a squeaky clean record under voluntary surveillance is STILL not going to help.

Yes. As in, I agree, with the (terrifying) concerns because literally, yes, that has, is, and will happen more. But your assessment of actual results is basically an equally depressed 'yes'. Surveillance has never at any point even by accident been to explore exactly how many baby nuns you are saving bare-handed from Cthulhu when not rescuing dogs from trees every day; they are assuming 'wrongness, lots' and trying to work out 'how much'.

Bus: That is so beyond sickening I don't even have an appropriate word.
