He's one of the very few fictional men I can see genuinely waiting for marriage. He literally had no romantic designs on any other girl since he met Anne via slate-to-head (it's so cute it hurts me inside; it's like the most perfect puppy-kitten-bunny hybrid purring/growling in my lap).
